I think you want water-based inks for stamping alcohol otherwise the two alcohols inks will mix.

I use either Stazon or Archival ink.

Sample here. This is Stazon black stamped over alcohol inks on glossy paper using the polished stone technique.

Mementos is what Copic Marker teachers are using, because StazOn is an alcohol ink (solvent based) and solvent on top of solvent = smearing.

Yes, but Memento ink is not great on Glossy cardstock. once the Copics dry, or the alcohol dries Stazon is absolutely fine to stamp on top! Just taught a class on this topic today, as a matter of fact! ;)

Agreed.....I have absolutely NO problem with it and have used it since alcohol inks came out on the market and before that with the old Pinata Inks which gave almost the same effect.....and lots of other work with gloss card....except for quite recently with stampscapes scenes....used to use StazOn ...now using India Ink.

Cheers,
Michelle

Stazon can get blurry, because solvent is the same thing in the alcohol inks...
BUT you can use memento, india ink, or the ranger permanent inks (don''t know the name of it, you can use the resist technique with this ink, but if you let it dry, it's great on alcohol inks).

This is what Tim Holtz's says to use on his blog and also stresses this in his Dvd's... "Ranger Black Archival Ink" acid free, fade resistant, waterproof and non-smear. I used the other inks that was stated up above, and the inks seem to just blend right into the alcohol background and the images fade. I've been using the Archival Black Ink now for years and it's the best one out there.
www.TimHoltz.com There are videos there and he also has a wonderful blog. Check them both out.

Yes i love ranger inks too. I have some of the "Nick Bantock" inks and they're very versatile!

I've found StazOn works ok for me without smearing, but I did also get the Ranger's Archival specifically for using with Alcohol Inks. Both work great with line art, the Ranger's might be slightly better with solid images.
