what do you recommend about this purchase?
I am going to put an order in with my stamp club this week and so I need to make a decision. I'm thinking about the Delightful Decorations in the holiday mini and the punch that goes with it. Today I went back and looked at the set again and although I like it, my brain can't think of anything except to case the card that is in the catty. I looked in the gallery and there aren't any cards there yet, so I couldn't get any inspiration there. So, do I buy it and hope that something comes to me just cuz I like it and it is only availble for a short time or should I pass? Do you have any design or layout ideas that you could share?
Thanks so much!

I was thinking that the punch could also be used for an acorn.

i too liked this set and the matching punch but decided against it because though it caught my eye.: i didn't see many uses for it other then what was displayed there are lovely cards in the gallery but i find i'm mostly casing something someone else has produced not that there is anything wrong with that but i want to expand my creative side so i'll pass but i'm still very very tempted.

Thanks for the input. I still haven't decided which usually means to pass but I will sleep on it. Last night I had a dream that I went to Victoria's Secret so maybe tonight I will dream about stamp sets! Thanks, again and would love to read more comments!

i was blurfing earlier today and saw someone use the punch upside down with velum as a vase... very clever!
i am planning on getting the delightful decorations set and the punch! and the autumn splendor set and possibly serene snowflakes... blah blah blah! LOL
i am wanting to make some gift tags and GC holders as well as cards. maybe some wrapping paper too...
i just LOVE punches and there are those super talented people out there that always come up with THE cutest stuff using punches! i for one will not be passing on the punch! and i really like the stamp set too so i just can't pass on it either.
now i am just rambling... ;)

I buy almost every punch and coordinating stamp set, but I am not getting this one... there just isn't much you can do with it besides as a Christmas ornament.

Flip the punch upside down and it could be a big, fat Christmas light.

I saw the cutest card today where someone put the punch sideways and decorated it like a fish-adorable! It is here: http://inkingaddict.blogspot.com/200...ox-mtsc37.html
I almost didn't get this set but I'm so glad I did, I love making gift tags with it and think we're going to see a ton of creative things made with the punch. I also use the smaller stamps in the set to make background paper: http://saucystamper.blogspot.com/200...te-as-bug.html
Let us know what you decide!

I bought it because I think I will use it for more than cards - I plan to use it for tags and other wrapping decorations.

Has Stampin' Up! ever had a punch in a mini that hasn't carried over to the regular catty? It would only seem practical that they carry it over. I imagine punches require a bit more of an investment. That said, it was the only thing (with the matching set) that I purchased from the mini. Not only do I appreciate the large size, but the 'style' has staying power, IMHO.

It is worth it just to crank out a jillion tags in a hurry. You can stamp first with the tag stamp or just punch a punch of scraps and write the recipient's name.

You can also cut off a bit of the bottom of the punch and use it as a vase.

I didn't end up buying it with my stamp club order, but we will have another opportunity before the mini is done, so I may have to think about it again. What great ideas you all have!

I bought this set and punch because I absolutely loved it, and make a lot of Christmas cards. Since buying it I've also seen it used to make a flower (wish I could find the link again). Basically you stamp a bunch of the same ornament in the same color on paper. Then punch them out and arrange them in a circle with the tops all clustered in the center. Secure them with a brad/eyelet. You can use one of the small circle stamps that comes with the set to create a little circle to cover the brad/eyelet and with some creative bending/flaring of your ornaments it makes a very pretty flower.

I recently bought this set because of all the beautiful cards that are in the gallery. Here is the link for the one with the flower - I thought this was so clever: Delightful Flower by mugsie at Splitcoaststampers
I also saw the punch used as a flower vase and it looked so cute. I think I will be able to use this set a lot.

It was me with the Conan thing
I'm the one with the Conan, Elf, Clown, Fish, Acorn thing...
http://www.blinkthinkink.blogspot.com/
look on the sidebar and click on "uses ornament punch" then you won't have to wade through the other blabbering
I have a bunch of Christmas stuff coming soon and a lot of it used the ornament punch - just not as an ornament.
And I almost didn't buy this punch - sure glad I did.
