Ideas for Kindergarten Halloween treats

Hi all! My daughter is kindergarten this year and I was wondering what type cute halloween treat ideas everyone has. I saw a cute 'witches' broom from a paper bag. Any other ideas? I think I will need 18-20.

Last year Cryth came up with some cute Halloween characters made with a scallop circle punch. I did some as pencil toppers, and they were a hit with that age group. You might want to ask the teacher if there are any restrictions- between allergies, no candy, and it being evil it can get tricky. I love halloween- i got tons of halloween stuff to give out to mydd kindergarten class and after many hours of work- turned down. Can you tell i am bitter? I even went to the PTO (of which i am now vice president of- hoping to change it this year:rolleyes

when i found out no costumes- uhh. I think kids should be allowed to be kids. The no candy - no costumes- please! iT's halloween! A 2 hour party with carrot sticks---ya hooo! okay- i am venting- i will leave!!!:twisted:

I'm pretty sure I saw something (first here on SCS and then possibly it linked to the person's actual blog with info) where someone decorated little circle tins (like the kind you buy at Michael's or Walmart in their crafting/wedding section) and put flubber or a similar kind of goo inside for the kiddos to play with. It was DARLING, but I can't find the link anywhere! :( I was thinking this would make a fantastic gift, but in addition to not being able to find the original blog link anymore, I also wonder whether there could be any kind of trouble with kids mistaking it for something to eat? That said, I would try and be clear in the packaging (perhaps with a tag or something else on the item) that this was goo to play with, not to eat. Hopefully, parents could understand and watch their kiddos (and I would only be giving it to kids 4 and up.) If anyone knows what I'm talking about and has a link, it would be awesome - and I think a fun gift!

My kids attend a Lutheran School....so we have a Fall Festival party instead. They allow the preschoolers to dress up, but not K-8. I'm probably going to stick to pumpkins, haystacks etc., just to be safe.

Can't do it in Texas...and that is sad. Anything but sugar is allowed for a treat...no cupcakes ever, no candy , nuthin' fun...just carrot sticks.

I taught kindergarten at a Catholic school for the last three years and we had a huge, wonderful Halloween party/dance during the afternoon.....PreK through 5th. Everyone dresses up, even the teachers...fun, fun, and more fun...That's the way it should be!!!

You don't need to use the cups with a card or the SU stamp set -- here are some cute baby favors made with them:

Like the others have said I would check with someone first on the "rules" even if you think you know them because they are always changing.
Papertrey ink just had a bunch of Halloween treat ideas on Nichole's blog. A couple really cute ones and could be adaptable to non candy items. One in particular was packaging for pixie stix but could be pencils or those glow stick bracelets, maybe even fruit roll ups. Check it out.

My kid go to a public school but aren't allowed to celebrate Halloween either. We are doing a Fall party instead.

I always do the pencils with the toppers for my school and both of my kids classes. Oldest was in grade 2 last year. Everyone loves them and they are so easy.

If you need a healthy treat what about doing something with apples? A little witches hat and sticker eyes? just a thought.
I also had to research what fairy cakes are...thats such a cute name for cupcakes ;)

Yes Fairy cakes are just very plain cake mix in little cases.

They have just flour, butter, sugar and eggs in.

Your Cupcakes are so very much more then anything the English make...

What about a soap kit, with bath bombs (Fizzers) some orange bubble bath and other spooky things in a nice paper box?

I'm glad you answered because I was just going to! They are more like bite-sized or two bite-sized compared to American regular cupcakes.

My youngest started kindergarten this year and that's something that has me thinking too...lol. I'm glad I found this thread!

I'm thinking along the lines of maybe mini cupcakes in their own little box, healthy snacks treat bags, or pencil toppers. Healthy snacking is a thing at my DD's school (and I'm sure lots of schools because of obesity rate, teeth health, & diabetes to begin with)...so MAYBE I'll end up doing the treat bags.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE making stuff for my kids classmates and teachers.

How about a matchbook style treat holder...you could decorate the cover with whatever stamps & paper that you have.

I just searched for the Paper bag witches brooms. I finally found the directions on Martha Stewart's website...search for "Witch's Broom Favors". They're made with lunch bags, but I was thinking a smaller craft bag would be cute.

For my daughters first year I did little tubs of Playdough from Costco cause I wasn't sure at all either. I put two in a little cello bag and tied it up with black and orange ribbon. Second year I did treat bags with black and orange jellybeans. This year I'm doing the Matchbook SU die for the bigshot and loading it with "bloody bones and skulls" from our Bulk Barn which are basically sugar in pressed forms...LOL!! I also have the SU Rubons for the lid of the matchbox. I'm gonna tie the boxes up with the same black and orange ribbon so it stays closed until the kids get home.

I'd like to comment from the other side of the fence. My grandson has a peanut allergy and there are many, many things that have nuts in them or are "contaminated" with nuts. Whenever there was a school party, he could not have any of the treats - and if there were nuts in the treats and other kids ate them, that still constituted a threat to his health. He has said to me that he wishes he didn't have this allergy, but I can't take it away - all we can do is teach him to cope. Non-food items, or foods that are VERY carefully screened are much appreciated by peanut allergy moms. So please try to think of the kids like him that are deprived of treats that other kids take for granted - and don't resent these kids for it. By finding a way to help them not be left out... again, you will feel great, too.

Bumping this good message about the peanut allergy -

I have known of a child that couldn't even be near anything with peanut in it, if someone opened a package near him that had even a trace of peanuts in it he would have an anaphylactic reaction.

Stamping on sticker paper is always fun, then punching out to make stickers for a goodie bag or just to hand out to classmates!
