Default Great SU color combinations - and a hint for newbies!

I love all the examples of cards and all the help I've gotten here!!

One cool thing my demo did when I was ordering my first big SU order was that she told me which colors went well together for my Terrific Tulips - for example, Rose Romance and Rose Red. Lovely Lilac and Lavender Lace is another great combination. And Perfect Plum and Pale Plum. And of course Mellow Moss goes well with all these combinations, when you're stamping the leaves/stems.

What are YOUR favorite SU color combos??

And a hint to newbies that I found recently - you can search the gallery by COLOR! So if you're finding yourself with leftover cardstock from your assorted packages, just search for "bordering blue" or "not quite navy" or whatever. I've found that these two colors go great together, by the way!

Hope to hear about your favorite combinations! I have about 36 of the 48 Classic Pads so far. <g>

for the tulips I love cameo coral and real red...barely banana and summer sun are also pretty together. I used to always use pale and perfect plum for my two step stamin flower sets....then I got tired of those color and experimented with other combos!

Thanks for the tip about searching the gallery for colors! I love that gallery. I hope to figure out how to make my own!

My favorite color combination is the pale plum/perfectr plum with the old olive and mellow moss.
Lately I have been in the clean fresh funky fun cool spring/summer combos like blues and greens, purple and yellow or green. I don't have a specific green or blue that is why I didn't name a certain color just been playing around lately. For some reason I hang out in the Bold Brights more than anything and I forget about the other families. When my upline did several projects with the plums and the Mellow moss it reminded me of those other colors!

I think the color coach is a must have! So many colors you would never think of putting together look amzing! If you don't have it, its worth the $9.95

I have been having fun using the colors from the cover of the June Stampin Success. I would NEVER have tried those colors before, but I keep getting drawn to that cover, so just finished several days worth of projects using those colors:
Rose Red, Close to Cocoa, Baroque Burgundy, Creamy Caramel. I love this combination! When I figure out how to upload pictures of my cards, I will share what I have done. It makes a wonderful aged look, especially with torn edges that are sponged with Close to Cocoa. It makes me feel so artistic, and I don't have an artistic bone in my body!!

The thing I like is that she puts families together and tells you you can choose two three four or more colors and they will look good together!!!
Now what I did was copy and paste every thing into a word doc. Would you like me to e-mail it to you so that you can print it out?

Default One I found last night... with a story, lol!

Banana Republic is my clothing weakness. (Although, I get almost everything ON SALE) So, while shopping for socks (and ONLY socks!!!) last night, (yeah right) I sauntered into there. I found an incredible dress marked at almost 1/2 off, and with a matching tank (for underneath) and darling drop earring on a huge sale... I gave in.

Took it home.

Tried it on for dh.

He hates it.

How can he hate it?? It's Tempting Turqouise and Chocolate Chip!!!

The style is a wrap, so cute, long enough, modest... but chic. Definitely out of my comfort zone for dresses, I'm usually a black dress girl, all shapes and sizes of black dresses in my closet. But this one I had to have!! He thinks it's "over the top" and "something from the fifties" (yes, dear, it's called "retro" and it's IN!) so I agonized over whether to keep it or not all evening. (I am the organist in church and he says he can't see me wearing it to church... ouch!)

So, to make myself feel better, I went and made a card to match it. Complete with ribbons and glitter. It came out SO cute! I used It's A Girl Thing, I'm having a hard time posting or I'd show it. I used the purses.

The dress looks like it's been stamped with Simple Shapes, lol.

So I'm keeping it (my MOM loves it, and she's conservative!!) and I'm going to be doing more cards to match the dress.

Christy-I love that you made a card to match your dress! So fun! Isn't it amazing how you start to see things in stampin' up colors! And how fun that you'll be wearing such a trendy dress playing the organ! We need more hip organists in this world! You go girl! Can't wait to see your card!

I LOVE color combinations. One thing I did that I refer to a lot.. I have a sketch book for ideas and mini samples of techniques.. so one day I went through the catalog and found cards I loved and wrote down the color combinations.. then I got out my stamp pads and stamped samples of the colors together. So now I just flip through for a color combination that catches my eye and when I see new combinations I add them in my book.. one day I will get ambitious and add cardstock snipets to the stamped samples..
