My cousin got a customized acrylic monogrammed stamp to stamp the back of her wedding invitation envelopes.
She was told specifically NOT to use Solvent Ink (aka Staz-On) on this stamp by the company who made it...yet this is the ink I would have suggested!
So she tried some M-brand water-based ink, but she said it didn't work very well, as the image wasn't "full" - like the ink wasn't sticking to the stamp.
I already suggested sanding the image lightly with sandpaper, as I've read that tip on here...but my cousin doesn't want to risk ruining the stamp, as she needs to send out the invites ASAP, so she doesn't have time to order a new stamp if it get's ruined.
I only use rubber stamps, and I haven't seen this stamp and the results in person...what ink should I recommend?
How about VersaFINE Tuxedo Black by Tsukineko? The cover says: Archival INSTANTDRY PIGMENT INK.
On the back of the case is says that "it is a fast drying oil based pigment ink, that it brings out fine detailsfor print-quality impressions, resists water, perfect for outline image and watercolring, cleans up easily, washes off with water and actually conditions the rubber of the stamp."
I use it on bothrubber and clear stamps and it's great!
I could not find it at Michaels. I had to order it on-line. I know that www.creativeplaystamps.com, amongst others. It also comes in several other colors.

Not all Micheals store carry Versafine ink pads. My local store does not. (My local store is tiny, and the paper crafting section is about 1/3 the size of same section in larger Michaels stores I have visited.) Thank goodness for mail order!

OHHHHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY thank you, I have a set of stamps i love from CTMH and for the life of me i couldnt get a good impression....... the solid areas were always splotchy......... I went and got some onyx black verafine and the image is so crisp, it looks like i printed it.
4 questions:
Are there reinkers for versafine?
What should i use to clean off my clear stamps??
Do all versafine colors give the crisp results Onyx Black does?
Any place thrifter than Scrapbooking Alley to order from??
Thank you, I was ready to give up on these stamps completely, But i loved them :-)
I'd like to know if anyone has a source for re-inkers for the Versafine Onyx Black, too. I use this almost exclusively for stamping (I've tried every black ink I could get my hands on, and this is hands down the best), but I don't seem to be able to find re-inkers. If I'm coloring the image (with Copics), I make sure to emboss the image with clear EP.
It will probably be a while before any reinkers for the Versafine Onyx Black is available ( provided they do eventually make one).
If you look at the back of the pad, it says it "produces 5 times more impression that other pigment ink pads." This is their "hook," the fact that it lasts "forever."
There are not even any listed on the manufacturer's site, which is www.tsukineko.com.

The only question I can asnwer is do the other colours give a crisp image - yes .
But as has been said, I don't believe that reinkers are available.
My favorite black is Palette Noir, then VersaFine and this morning I used one of my cheapy Michael's stamps and used Memories Black and it also worked like a charm. Did find out something about JoAnn's white pigment ink - my favorite - it separated and it is now in the trash! :( That's the black and white of it!

I got the Pallette True Black from Papertrey a few weeks back and I love it. It cleans completely off the stamps so they still look like new.
blessings.
The CTMH stamps were tried many times with different inks....... all spotty results......... so they were broken in with poor impressions......... but i have some new ones and also some InkaDinkaDo with large flat areas that were never used.......... VersaFine did the trick...
Best place to order is scrapbookingalley.com, and i was able to get reinkers for the black and sepia at my LLS
For an INEXPENSIVE but GREAT acrylic ink pad. . . Maybe you would consider STAMPOLOGY Black/Onyx. Its made especially for acrylic stamps. It NEVER smudges and stamps clean up w/o any problem. I have only found it at WAL MART in the Craft dept.

You know, there is another thread about this. Do you remember where you got your refills. The woman on the other thread does not. I have searched many sites and visited the manufacturer's website. There are no refills there or at any of the other sites.
Please help solve this mystery.

I agree. The bar code number does me no good. I need the name of a web site that carries the reinker. There are no refills on any site I have found so far.

I don't know how many boards I've looked through to find this question, but I emailed Tsukineko and asked about VersaFine reinkers. This was his answer:

I bought this once (because I use a LOT of acrylic) and what a waste of money! I could NEVER get it to stamp right, it beaded up on the stamp, was splotchy and was never juicy enough!! I made sure to "test" this ink pad with other acrylic stamps that work fine on every other ink pad I have.
When I bought this product and brought it home, I felt like the biggest sucker for buying something just because it said it was made JUST FOR acrylic. Ended up giving to my DD.
