Default Hey Newbies - a word to the wise!

Hi,

I'm sure someone's already posted this....but I figured I will, maybe save someone else their time/$! I went to my friend's SU workshop and thought I could save some $ by purchasing some things from my local craft/s'booking store. I bought a stamp cleaning pad - no container to put it in, messy - if you scrub too quickly it "sprays" at you, not good! The stamp cleaning spray was OK. The powder/bead tray I bought I had a hard time prying the rubber stopper off and it didn't come with a brush. The Crystal Effects knockoff was OK. The cardstock was by far the WORST ever! I bought it at the ever-popular-craft-store-named-after-a-guy and it STINKS!!! The stamped image bleeds, there's no nice "sheen" or finish to it and the worst of all is on EVERY PIECE there is an image of a band pressed into the fiber of the paper. I think they strap them together and load them on pallets...they stay stored like that and it just compresses the paper. I was kicking myself for being so cheap! But the good part is, my niece is getting into stamping, and now I'm an SU demo, so I can't use these products anyway. She'll get my hand-me-downs and I'll keep some of the cardstock for when I'm trying out a rough draft of a card. So it all worked out for me anyway, but I strongly suggest sticking to quality products by SU!!! Happy Stampin'!!!

Sounds like you've had quite the experience with other products. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
