I have two favorite stores:

Stamp on In
2320 N. Clark St.
773-857-0452

Stampology Chicago
5031 N. Harlem
773-742-5500

Both are good for stamps and accessories. There is another store - Windy City - that is more scrapbooking than stamping. They do have some stamps and fabulous paper.

PM me if you want more info.

Oh....I just had a thought...did you actually mean Chicago or Chicagoland area. The stores I gave you are in Chicago. In the suburbs are Stamp Thyme, 201 S. State, Lockport, IL 815-836-8180.....The Cottage Stamper, 211 S. 3rd St., St. Charles, IL. 630-584-1329.

I second the Stamp On In by Lincoln Park area. They're the nicest. Everytime I'm in town, I make a point to go there. They were so nice that they stay later to accommodate my shopping. Highly recommend!

At risk of being hated, (because they're corporate) there's also Paper Source around the area.

Our last trip to Chicago, I tried doing searches to find a stamp store in the downtown area, and didn't find anything. Next time, I'll make a point to head up to Lincoln Park ~ thanks for the tip!

There is a Dick Blick in the downtown area (on State St.) - no stamps but lots of art supplies like Copics and Prismas.

Windy City Scrapbooking is on Clybourne. Great store, parking stinks though.

I've been to Stamp On In and love it as well. They have a lot packed in there don't they! It was maybe 4 or 5 years ago when I was there, I'm glad they have survived.

Momi's Mom,

DH did some work in Lake Forest in Feb. and I went with him. I visited several stores:

Stamp, Scrap n'More in Mundelein Il is very nice. This is where I spent most of my money (I made two trips to this store .) It's about a 15-20 min. drive from Lake Forest. A true "stamp" store with lots of selections. They also have a lot of scrapbooking items but mainly stamps.

https://ssl.perfora.net/www.stampscr...dex.shopscript

More Than Memories in Schaumburg is geared more towards scrapbooking and artsy stuff. A small selection of wood mounted stamps and some acrylics.

http://www.morethanmemoriesonline.com/

Stampology is great. It's small and compact but a lot of selection and the people are wonderful. A large used section that you can get some good deals if you're not picky on the condition of the stamps. I've been there both times I went to Chicago.

http://www.stampologychicago.com/index.html

Craftfancy is a relatively new store (had only been open six months when I went there in Feb.) and it's very nice. A good mix of scrapping and stamping supplies.

http://www.craftfancy.com/

I went to Stamp On In last June on my first trip to Chicago. A nice store with nice selection, but I personally thought that they could have had more items for the amount of space that they're in, especially when I compare it to some other stores I've been to. They're twice the size of The Ink Pad in NYC yet probably have only a 1/3 of the amount of goodies.

http://www.stamponin.net/

The Scrappin' Bee in Gurnee is 95% scrapping stuff and has a lot of items geared toward local schools. They do have a small area of used items, sort of a customer consignment area, that I found a CTMH set that I liked. But, for me, it was the biggest waste of my time as I am mainly a stamper and was looking for stamps.

Have a great time in Chi-town. DH is heading there tomorrow but I can't go cause I've got other commitments this week. Maybe next time.

thank you SO much for all the info and your opinions!

we did make it to scrapology... what a great little space they have there. would definitely go back!

also got to go to windy city scrapbooking... another one that i would go back to.

we did not get to go to the stamp on in... there was absolutely NO parking! we circled a couple times and even thought about parking somewhere else and walking BUT it was 92 so we decided to pass on that one.

my friend and i are planning on going back and possibly doing the 'tour' thing... she had found something on line about it and they gave us a little info at the windy city store.

over all we had a wonderful time and are looking forward to going again and finding new 'treasures' next time!

Aww, so glad you had a nice time!! I was going to suggest Dick Blick also, just for the amazing selection of copics and accessories they have.

Thanks for reporting back on your trip. I always like to see people give feedback. I see so many threads where people request shopping suggestions for traveling and then never come back to the thread. These can be enormously helpful, as often so many things are closed or difficult to get to (like the parking situation you reported above).

I miss Chicago!! We used to go there often when I lived in Indiana.

Not any more, just an Archiver's off Route 59 and New York Ave. There used to be Cherish on the Naperville/Plainfield border, but it closed... it was a good one, too!

Funny.....I live in the Chicago burbs and didn't know of half these places. Maybe this is not such a good thing after all. BUT thanks to whoever mentioned The Ink Pad in NYC....I'd heard about it but couldn't remember the name...we're visiting my best friend out that way next month and wanted to include that in our trip. My DH is thrilled that I know the name of the store now (HA HA HA).
