Here's how:
Ink up a bold stamp (something that doesn't have to be colored in) with a light color, and then roll just the edges of the stamp in a darker color in the same color family. In Sharon's card, you can see how the flowers closest to the sentiment have two shades of pink. She first inked up with the light pink, and then rolled the edges of the flower in the darker ink.
Now go have fun, you lucky ladies with TIME to stamp this week!!!! I have been so busy that I have been actually turning off my computer *gasp* so I can get some stuff done! I haven't even seen all the glass ornaments from last week's challenge yet!

I'm looking forward to trying this. I know what you mean about turning the computer off to get anything done. I'm only going to check out things for a few minutes then hours later I finally get a sore butt. Too many great cards to look at. Not that I'm complaining.... love all that inspiration.
Wow, Beth -- aren't you sweet to choose my card! I love this technique (and card!) and have been meaning to remake it with current stamps. Maybe I'll take a break from Christmas gift commitments this week to do that!
Okay, I have a question. After you stamp on the light color ink pad do you do this technique on the darker ink pad before stamping on the paper? Sue
Sue, Yes. You want to take your lighter inked stamp and just touch the edges of it on the darker ink pad -- thus the "rock 'n roll". It's very easy to just "roll" your stamp edges on the 2nd ink pad. Then stamp as normal onto your paper.
Ok, gals, this is my first attempt at this week's challenge and I love this technique. I cased my friend's momrulz's card and tweaked it and used this technique w/it...it was fun...if I have time, I want to make a couple more...
I really enjoyed this challenge. I love Paint Prints and how pretty it makes a poinsettia. I had to try it with two colors of pink. I love the soft look.
I'm sick of snow and it's not even Christmas yet! So I went off to Hawaii in my card making today and warmed up a little, dreamer! Justine, Beautiful Batik is back again!
Beth, I hadn't done this technique before and I really like it a lot! Thanks for all your time for these challenges and have a great Christmas.
I guess I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow for this one - I'm whooped. I did get finished with everything I had to make - so from here on out it's stampin' for fun. I stamped and scrapbooked for 14 hours today getting presents finished.

My attempt. It may look a little feeble because the rock 'n roll part is kind of light - did the flower image in Lovely Lilac first and then the edges in Elegant Eggplant. Thank you, Sharon, for answering my question.
