I'm too lazy to research and make a buncha phone calls, let's just get that out there ;)
Do any of y'all know a hospital or organization I can send a boatload of handmade cards to? I started selling some of my cards on ETSY, but I still have whacks of cards and thought I could donate them to a good cause somewherez.
Its not an organization or hospital but my daughters special ed class would love some. They love getting special surprises each week on Fridays. I have sent some to school and if they do a good job they get a special card from their teacher. They also use some of my doubles to attach to gifts for the birthday parties and holiday crafts they make to take home.
Check out cardsforheroes.org. They can always use cards. The cards are sent to the military overseas and then the military can send the cards to their families back in the states.
sprtchick on this Forum sends cards to our troops. You might want to contact her to see if she could use them. Just pm her, I am sure that she would love to hear from you.
My mom is on the board for EdMarc Hospice for Children, and they're currently in great need of child-friendly cards to send to patients and their siblings for birthdays. I'm sure cards for all occasions would be welcome, though, since the children's parents likely don't have time to think about little things like card shopping when dealing with their child's life-threatening illness, or could use a little happy mail themselves from time to time!
Here's their website if you'd like to learn more about them, or feel free to PM me! http://www.edmarc.org

Cool - I'll check some of those out.... I saw the Cards for Heroes thing but they wanted patriotic ones.... I didn't want a place with a theme or a criteria, just a place where any card be it birthday, anniversary or get well I could just box up and ship. Thanks!

Actually, Cards for Heroes (I used to be a shipper) collects any occasion blank cards. The troops use them to write back home.

CFH does not place restrictions. its just that certain times of the year certain styles are more in demand.. come October you will see more requests for Thanksgiving and Christmas for instance. they will take all occasion cards year round.
Operation Quiet comfort does have restrictions.. they want Get Well and Thinking fof you/Thank you cards to give TO the servicemembers and they ask that no glitter or over the top embellies be used.
Location: prolly in my 'rubber room'... in the mid-west

if you have a county home in your area i am sure they would be pleased to get what ever you offer.
i am actually taking a big stack to our county home today. the residents have VERY limited funds and love to be able to send a card to a family member.

Might wanna leave the "get well" cards out of the box if you're sending to EdMarc, as most of their patients are terminal... :(

Operation Quiet Comfort is no longer requesting the "Get Well" cards. We send thank you/thinking of you/morale booster cards. But they don't have to have those specific phrases on them.
Thanks so much for all of the suggestions- I'm not the OP but I have a huge stack of cards that RAKing isn't making a dent in. I'm going to pick one of these and send them to.
I'm helping with a craft fair in a few weeks where the proceeds are being donated to a cageless no-kill cat shelter here in Boise. If you're interested in donating cards to benefit an animal shelter, I'd be happy to accept them. Just PM me for my address. Here is their website:
