Default Cuttlekids machine question

Hi, I have a friend who is thinking of buying a cuttlebug for herself and a cuttlekids for her daughter, who is around 4, I think . Any comments on this machine? Easy to use? Quality? Etc? I told her I knew the perfect place to check out her concerns, lol!

TIA!!

I don't have the CK machine but I do have several dies for the cuttlekids that will work in the cuttlebug. The backs have a foam layer on them so they would be safe for kids.

So really? The Cuttlekids dies will work in the Cuttlebug??? Whoa - I always wondered about that. I think on the Joanns site, it says that the Cuttlekids dies will only work in the Cuttlekids machine.....or maybe I imagined that.

I have a cuttlekids, and my 2 children (ages 7 and 10) find it much harder to turn then my Big Shot. So, the cuttlekids get no use, and my Big Shot gets a lot of use.

The Cuttlekids dies will work in the Cuttlebug, but not the other way around

My 6 year old has a Cuttlekids, but it's hard for my 4 year old to turn. I think the Cuttlebug or the Big Shot would be easier to use for a 4 year old. The suction cups on the Cuttlekids really doesn't provide enough stability, IMO, which causes the machine to move around, fall over, etc.

That being said, my Quickutz dies work in the Cuttlekids and my kids LOVE all the dies.

Yes, Cuttlekids dies work in Cuttlebug. The alphabet dies for Cuttlekids are really cute, and a super bargain at that. They are only $14.99, and with a coupon that makes them super reasonable compared to the regular CB alphabet dies.

I have a couple of the alpha sets and really like them for cards.

I bought the cuttlekids machine for my grandson when he was 4. He can barely turn it, but can work the regular cuttlebug and big kick fine. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but that was my experience. He's five now, and does very well with the regular CB machine. The cuttlekids machine is so cute, and a good idea, but ours is too difficult to turn. Eileen

I have a 3 and 5 year old who love to turn the handle on my CB. The need a little help when the die is directly under the roller. I would skip the Cuttlekids and spend your money on buying more dies. My kids like some of the cuttlekids dies, but also like some of my CB dies which would not work in the Cuttlekids. The Cuttlekids is a nice concept, but very limiting.

Like many of the above posters, I bought the Cuttlekids for my 6 YO niece and she could not turn the handle without help. It was not a good gift for her.

Add me to the list of Cuttekids owners that kids can barely turn it. I have a hard time turning it, in fact. We just recently bought it and I am thinking about packing it up and trading it in for a cuttlebug for my DD. She like other posters' kids can use it with no problem!!! If I were you I would get a coupon, spend a little more and get the cuttlebug.

I bought my crafty son a CK and wish I had just used a coupon and bought him a CB. He's got the hang of it now (at 7 1/2), but cranking that little, tipsy machine takes a bit of the fun out of doing his own papercrafting. Also, he's limited to the CK dies and the small CB embossing folders. I have a Big Kick now, so one of these days I'll give him my CB so he can borrow my larger dies & embossing folders.

The CK dies work in a CB, but Provo Craft says not to use the CB dies in the CK. I haven't tested it, so I have no idea why. Maybe the metal CB dies will damage the "kiddie-quality" CK machine.

The small embossing folders go through the CK and the kids love them. Most of the designs on the smaller folders are childish, anyway, so it's all good.

IMO, Provo Craft made the CuttleKids too small and tipsy. If the kids could get a better grip on it and if it was bigger and better weighted, it would be easier to turn.

But then it'd be a Cuttlebug! LOL

I use the Tadpole alpha set made for the Cuttlekids in my Cuttlebug all the time.
Blessings.

It works in the cuttlebug...I have the dinosaurs, birthday set, individual animals..monkey, frog, hippo and pirate set and have used them all thru the cuttlebug machine. Oh and the cuttlekids alphas work too and they are cheaper than cuttlebug dies

Brand new to the die cutting world. What other brand of dies can be used in your Cuttlekids? I've read that you might try using 2 B plates for sizzlits. Wondering about quickutz Cookie Cutter dies. I only have two alpha sets so far and am waiting for my Epic Six to arrive. Wondering if I could try them on my cuttlekids. Don't want to ruin the dies though. Hoping to let the kids use the Cuttlekids and not mommy's new machine. But what other dies can I offer them beside the cuttlekids dies? Thanks!

Wanted to start new thread but don't know how.

You should be able to use any of the narrow wafer thin dies in the ck. Wizard, bosskut, quickutz, impress, doubledo.

I bought the CK and add me to the list of people that have a hard time turning the handle and it is very tippy.

They work in the Cuttlebug too! I have used several Cuttle Kids dies in my Cuttlebug and they turn out great! The butterfly is cute and so is the frog!

Cuttlekids dies do work just fine in the Cuttlebug. I got a couple of Cuttlekids alphabet sets on sale for only $7.50 each. They are wonderful, and quite a price dip from the alphas for the Bug!

My grandaughter is 3.5........... she mastered the cuttlebug at 3, only took about 10 mins of help from Gramma, now she's a PRO....... instead of getting her a kids cuttlebug, she picked out more "bossing" folders :-)

We bought the CK for my oldest for her bday on clearance at Walmart and she likes it although it doesn't get much use because we can't find anymore dies so she only has the ones that it came with and she wasn't real hip on the bug's head LOL

My grandma picked up a Cuttlekids for the kids, and she and I couldn't even turn it very well. My 6 yr old niece uses my Big Kick, I supervise but she often uses it herself and has for a couple years. It's more stable and easy to turn, and she can use my full range of dies and not limited to QK or Cuttlekids. If the cost of a Big Kick/Shot is not right, get the Cuttlebug with a coupon. That way they can emboss too. My niece LOVES to emboss anything and everything in sight.
