What was your best buy?
Mine was the wizard because I love Nesties, but for 50cents I love my tracing wheel, its so quick to make evenly spaced pierced holes.
But I would love to know, what YOU really love and why?
What is your all-time best buy the thing you use all the time?

I have tons of stuff and some great bargains but my most-used bargain is a scrapbook rolling tote from JoAnn's that was on a clearance plus I got to use a coupon. I got a $60 tote for less than $20 and it hold lots a lot of my stuff to travel to crops. On the other hand, I have a lot of embellishments and odd crafty stuff that I see the price tag and wonder what was I thinking!?!?!

Best purchase I ever made was the SU! Tabletop Cutter that I bought two years ago. It has made my life INFINITELY easier when prepping for classes/workshops, swaps, or any other large-scale stamping project! I also love that it's self-sharpening and capable of cutting the thinnest of strips, unlike the 12" trimmer.

I gave this a lot of thought (because I have a lot of stuff .
But I have the say the best thing I've bought is the Making Memories Precision Trimmer. I had several paper trimmers before and wasn't really happy with any of them.
The MM trimmer cuts straight, can be used with 12 x 12 paper if you need to, and folds to a smaller size for ease of use with cards.
The most wonderful thing is the self-sharpening blade. It really does stay sharp and cuts clean. I was always changing blades with my other trimmers.
You can get this trimmer at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. It retails for about $49.99, but with a coupon it is very
reasonable.

I've got 2 things I use every time I craft:
1) Basic Grey Magnetic Precision Mat - got it with a coupon for about $15, and it is the perfect work surface. It's self-healing, magnetic, and makes measuring a snap - plus, it protects my tabletop. Love it!
2) Making Memories Precision Trimmer - night and day difference between it and my old flimsy Fiskars. No more ridged, ragged edges!
I debated forever before buying each of them (do I really need it? will it end up just another fancy tool to collect dust?) but now I can't imagine not having them!

And the next runner up is the Scor-Pal!

Mine is my stamp-a-majig. I absolutely LOVE it.
Not that I don't love all my other things too, but for bang for my buck I think the stamp-a-majig

I think the best "deal" I've had recently was the revolution for 39$ as I think it will make cutting nesties a breeze with it's magnetic base (I haven't tried it out yet!!)
MY best purchase has been my accucut machine- I love being able to create nice sized boxes and bags en masse in a short period of time:rolleyes:

Although it's hard to choose as I have several things I can't live without, if you make me pick only one I would have to say my ATG gun. It's saving me a fortune on mono refills and it was annoying running out of tape all the time. This being said, I'm waiting for my score-pal to come and I'm betting it will become my new favorite tool.

Wow! that looks like a real tool. All I see OTBP are tiny plastic ones that don't refil and hold 5-6 yards! They fill the landfill sites with them!

My best tool is my atg by far, it has been worth every penny and every penny I spend on refills! I am on my 2nd mm trimmer and the numbers have worn off, this is why I have a 2nd. I switched to the tonic guil. and love it, I have the small and large!

Worth every penny? My Scor-Pal and my ATG - they get used on every card. And both save me time and money. A close 3rd: my CB and my Nesties. I'm still on the lookout for a paper cutter that will be worth every penny!

Two tools that make my cardmaking so much easier, better and more fun: SU grid paper and nonstick scissors (for trimming anything sticky). I think they are by Fiskars (orange handle).
Fun thread!

My best buy has to be the one I just made. I ordered the Silhouette last night for $99, and found a coupon on line for $5 off of that. Shipping was sort of steep, but I was thrilled with the price. Now I just have to wait patiently for it to get here...........

My favorite is a tie between the stamp-a-ma-jig and my Mat Pack for paper piercing.
Glad some of you have been happy with you Making Memories Trimmer but I feel the need to share my experience ...
I am a new-ish card maker. However, I am sad to report...I recieved the Making Memories Trimmer as a gift and was not happy at all with the results...jagged and inconsistant edges. I tried paying attention to how I was pushing down on the cuttter/blade and had an experienced neighbor try it outno luck--returned it and the had the same problem with the second one-in adddition to there being a gauge or something in the blade because about 2" up there was a pronounced gauge in each piece. So, I'm not sure how that happened....how could it be self-sharpening?
I am still sad about it because I LOVED the size and the way the paper was kept tight under the "flap".
I am resigned to having weekend time with my old -school guilotine trimmer that I bring home from work~ which works wonderfully.
Since I'm an SU Demo, I guess it's time to order that one. I love how it cuts however, I really wish that it had a 12x12 base.
I think I'll look into the Genesis trimmer mentioned above...if anyone else has any suggestions I'd love to hear them. One can only go so long without a decent trimmer!
So, I am resigned for now

I'm sure if I had one, I'd been able to say that too!
In my neverending search, I just bought a Tonic 12" rotary trimmer (for portability), but when I'm cutting 8 1/2" X 11" paper for my A2 cards, one card will inevitably be smaller than the other. I've double and triple-checked, I'm lining it up perfectly, so I think maybe the blade is off. Anyone had any problems with this trimmer?

50% coupons??
Am I reading this correctly...some of you have 50% coupons for Michael's?? Wow. We only get 40% coupons and are grateful for that! ;) ]
My favorite tools are my S/U punches. I use them ALL THE TIME! I used to have almost all of them, but now they've got the oval ones that I have to get. I also have several of the giga punches...especially love the scalloped ones.
I have probably 5 or 6 paper trimmers, but I still find myself using my old school, wooden guillatine one I got from a school surplus sale. It sits on my work table and I don't even begrudge the room it takes because it's so important to me. None of my other trimmers can cut through double thick cardstock (for evening up edges of cards before I begin each project). And since I'm rather OCD when it comes to perfect edges, this is the cutter for me! The handle is slightly bent at the bottom, but I know how to work around it's little issues. It weighs a ton though, so I just bought a new Fiskars 12 x 12 trimmer to take to crops. Working okay for what I expected. AND, of all my other trimmers, the Fiskars is the only one that has the ability to score paper! Go figure....

I started stamping in Feb 2002, I bought on EBAY, all of the original 48 old style ink pads, reinkers and markers in a lazy susan style holder for about $125 in May of 2002(mother's day gift). I am only now starting to reink those pads and I stamp nearly everyday. I love the old style pads and the markers are all still good.

I am sorry you have had problems with your Making Memories precision trimmer. It is by far my best purchase ever. The self-sharpening blade is awesome and I have no frayed edges at all. Get on their website and look for the place about requesting replacements. I had the numbers rub off of my first one, and they replaced it no questions asked. The LSS where I initially purchased it had gone out of business, plus, I had no proof of purchase, so I thought I was out of luck. I just filled out the form on their site and instantly received an e-mail saying my replacement would be shipped out ASAP. No kidding, they have THE BEST customer service ever. I have had no problems at all with the new one I received. If I did, I would not hesitate to contact them again. They are great!
