Default Commenting on cards

I always look at todays additions on the home page for cards that have been submitted. I would love to comment on more of them but when I leave a comment I have to go all the way back to the home page and start over. I can't get back to todays additions without doing this. Is there a way I can get back to the page I was on without going all the way back to the home page and starting over?

This is a pet peeve of mine too! It didn't used to be this way...it was a lot easier to leave comments when you could go directly to the next newly posted item instead of having to go back to the original page. I hope the people who take care of this site are able to do something about it...

Can't you just hit the back button?

No. I have tried that and it doesn't work. Once I leave a comment the only way I can get out of that screen is to go back to the home page.

Try hitting the back button before your post goes thru completely. I haven't been in the galleries for over a week, but this is how I have left comments in the past, and it takes me back to whatever gallery I was in. I hope things haven't changed. That sounds like a real pain!

You used to be able to leave a comment and then hit 'next image' and it would take you directly to the next new post. Now 'next image' will often take you to another post in the same artist's gallery, or another post in that stamp category.

K
I just tried this and it worked. I also favorited a card and hit the back button before my post went completely through and that also worked. Thank you so much for your help.

I have read in the forms a lot about people viewing cards but not leaving a comment. For me it always took so long but now I will be leaving many comments.

Sorry, I don't know what is causing this for you. The back button is working fine for me. Could it have something to do with the Browser one uses? I use Firefox. I doubt this helped at all but I thought I would throw that out there. I hope this is corrected for you soon.

You can also select the cards you want to look at by holding down the shift button while you click on the thumbnail. This will open the link in a whole new window where you can leave your message and then go back to the gallery while it is submiting. The window with the gallery open is not affected at all and will still be the same. I usually shift-click a dozen or so thumbnails to get a bunch of new windows then comment on them all and then go back to the main gallery to start over again... this makes it really fast to leave comments so you don't have to wait for each comment to submit.

Kathryn,

Thanks. I tried this and it does work for me. I also thought to try right clicking on the thumbnail and one of the options is to open in a new window and that works also.

Thank you all so much for your help.

I have found this is the reason I dont leave a lot of comments too. It's such a PIA, but if I can remember to open the link in a new window I find that is helping me!

I had this issue, until somone told me to right click on the picture of the card I wanted to open and comment on, and then choose "open link in new tab." That way you can comment and then just close that tab and you are right back where you started!

yup....that is exactly what I do too. That way I open a few to look at and I don't lose my place.

I was also going to suggest using the shift key to open the card in a new window but Kathryn beat me to it. I always do this when viewing a particular gallery (like for a challenge). I can leave so many more comments because while my comment is being submitted I can go back to the gallery on the other window and open a new card to comment on.

You can also use the drop down arrow by your back and forward buttons on your browser. Its usually the second entry down that will say splitcoaststampers....all cards...it will take you to the last gallery page you were looking at after you've favorited or left a comment. Hope that didn't sound too confusing
