Stamping on coasters?
I'm a new demo and trying to make samples for classes and presents. Can someone tell me what kind of tiles I need to make the coasters I've seen stamped on here. Where can I find them? Thanks!
What you need to look for are "tumbled marble tiles"....if you need instructions I'm sure there are some around here, or here's a tutorial I wrote a while back... http://www.smartrubber.com/tumbledtiles_708.pdf

My daughter makes these all the time and so far without any heat set or sealing and using stazon they do great. Never had one Chip, bleed or peel. We just dab on the stazon with a makeup sponge and then stamp the image on it. Watch out 'cause the stamp will slide a little. To remove the boo-boo use the stazon cleaner. We have never sealed and never had a problem. Let dry 24 hours.
You can find the tiles at Lowes or Home Depot. Lowes seems to have a little better price. You want to make sure there aren't a lot of pits in the tiles.
Last time I bought them at Lowes, I camped out on the floor and created my own boxes. The employee watched me and never said a word, so I guess it was ok.

You don't use the magnets with coasters, you use them with little tiles to make refrigerator magnets. So the coasters are made out of the bigger tiles. The magnets are made out of the small (maybe 2x2 or something like that) tiles that would like make up your backsplash in your kitchen. That make sense, I feel like I did a bad job explaining it:-)
I love making coasters! I too buy the tumbled tiles from Lowes and use Stazon. I've even used chalks to color. It goes down into the pores and without sealing; mine are still like new. I've had some for over 5 years.
What kind of glue do you use to hold the magnets to the tiles? I've got a set that's several years old that my SU demo, at the time, gave me. They've held firmly all these years!

Thanks Minders. Your explanation really helped. By the way, my hometown is Belleville. I used to teach in several town including in central Illinois. Now I teach for the DOD in GA.
