Cardstock: smooth or textured
What's your preference?
I really prefer smooth. For me it is easier to work with.

It depends on what I'm using it for. I love to use textured cardstock as the base of my scrapbook pages and sometimes for card bases too. If I'm stamping, I'll almost always reach for smooth.

I used to never pay attention--if it was on sale at HL or Michael's, I bought it. However, I've become a LOT more discriminating and find that I definitely prefer smooth for all applications.

I'm like Frankie. Depends on what I'm doing. I like the rich look that textured paper gives, but it's not great for all designs. I do a lot of watercoloring and I use both smooth and textured watercolor paper.

I like to mix it up. I agree with frankie. Textured for bases and if I'm stamping smooth and being on sale is great too!

It depends on what I'm using it for. If I'm stamping I like it to be smooth. I love Prism cardstock because one side has a texture and the back is smooth enough for stamping on.

I prefer the smooth cardstock, I tried the textured cardstock but I didn't really like it.

I find it hard to justify buying smooth cardstock.
However I find it best for doing techniques and I like the textured cardstock for base and matting and die cutting.

I used to buy textured Bazzill but now I prefer PTI's which is mostly smooth but a great weight.

I like both. I am really into textures for a neat look. For stamping though, I like smooth. For borders and layering and card bases I like textured. It took me awhile, but I finally learned about quality card stock too. I will still buy card stock pre-colored stack packs, but rarely do anymore--unless I just need it for a special purpose. I prefer Bazzils, PTI's and SU's quality among others that are really good.

I like textured sometimes for background papers or photos mats but usually, for most scrappin' and all cards, I like smooth. Can't really explain it.

Like many posters before me, it depends on what look I want. I always stamp on smooth, but may layer with textured to get more texture on my card. You can achieve a lot of great effects with textured paper.

This is good to know! I love the look of textured cardstock for layers on my cards but prefer to stamp on smooth cardstock. I almost exclusively use textured when scrapbooking though, I love it for that. |
