Are you ready for today's technique? Do you have a good supply of rubber bands ready? Well then, let's begin. I have created a pictorial for you to view (hope this works today) that will explain the technique. It's not a new technique, but one that you may have not done in a while, or perhaps even forgotten about all together. Stamping Servant (Rita) sent me a PM suggesting this fun technique...thanks so much for the suggestion!!!
It's real easy, and you will be amazed and impressed with the results you get.
What you will need:
A wood or acrylic block
Embossing ink (embossing powder is optional)
Cardstock
Inks
Sponge or daubers
First you wrap several rubber bands around your block, criss-crossing them in various directions.
Next, take your rubber-banded block and ink up the rubber bands with your embossing ink (I used Versamark) and stamp onto your cardstock. I went in several different directions until I had filled the cardstock with the impressions.
Now you can either let your embossing ink dry, or if you prefer, you can apply embossing powder and heat emboss.
Lastly, apply your ink using your sponges or daubers to add color to the cardstock. The embossing ink, or embossed images will resist the ink, leaving your with a unique design.
Complete your card as desired.
Sound fun? I found it easy to do, and had great results on the first try...that doesn't happen often for me!
Seriously, I will have to ask my hubby before he goes to work if we even have any rubberbands!!!! AGK!! I don't think we do, we don't even have paperclips in the junk drawer, so what makes me think we would have rubberbands?? HAHA! I would love to try this, so I hope so! Is there any other way besides rubber bands??

You could go around in your neighborhood and ask for donations of rubber bands....LOL...oh, I would wait until they are awake! Don't know about another option besides rubber bands, but that would be a different TLC.

New technique to me!! Thanks so much, Lynn. I was guessing it would be along these lines. My elastic bands are lined up, all ready to give this a go now the housework is all done.
Thank you for creating this challenge, Lynn. I'm currently working on my first ever scrapbooking page (for HHN09) and am using this technique in my design .... I REALLY love the look!!
Just checked out your submission ... love your card. The quote and the swirley dies compliment the background perfectly!
Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with for this challenge!
Enjoy your day!

HEY!! GUESS WHAT!? My daughter asked for pony tails today with her 1/2" rubber bands!!! I don't know if it will work, since they stretch pretty skinny, but I am going to try it in a bit when I return from taking them to school!

Had fun with this.
Unlike Lynn, I can't say it worked the first time, but I got there. I think it would make a great Asian background in different colours, it reminds me of bamboos. That's a project for another day.

We got a new paper delivery guy, and he doesn't use rubber bands at all, but just puts the paper in a very thin yellow plastic bag! I never realized that my stash came from just that one source. I think we have a grand total of ONE rubber band in the house!! I may need to do some hunting!! Or I may have to "borrow" some from work today!!

I am so happy to be able to do a challenge today since I couldn't participate last week with a broken computer. But, my new one arrives today sometime so I will be back in business.
Lynn, this is a wonderful challenge. When I stamped my rubber bands, my mind just thought "oriental" for some reason so that is what I went with.
This was a new and fun technique to try, so thanks, Lynn! HANG IN THERE
