Question Mono Adhesive Questions?

I have a few questions for those of you who use this. I've never used it before, mainly because of the price. I've been using glue sticks and have gotten sick of the mess so I purchased some of these from Michaels today since I'll be making my Christmas cards this weekend. So I'm wondering....

How long due they generally last?

Are the refills that are offered on Viking the same thing that I got at Michaels (I got the permanent adhesive and it looks blue and not purple)?

Do you think it's worth the cost?

Thanks in advance!

Default Monoadhesives

I have only used them at a couple parties and workshops. I was working on a project last night and brought one out and after a couple times of using it-it broke on me. I know I had it in my hand correctly and was using short swipes with it. Took out another one--different brand--and after a few times it also broke on me. What am I doing wrong?

My opinion -- and I am a demonstrator-- I HATE mono adhesive!!! I find that it doesn't hold, especially for scrapbooking, or like the cards I keep out on display or swaps that I've had for over a month.

I LOVE glue dots. They are not messy, hold great, and are easy to use. You don't need many glue dots, usually just one in each corner of a cardfront or matte or whatever, as opposed to a whole strip on each side plus one down the middle of the Mono adhesive to get it to hold.

I only use Mono in an adhesive emergency, when I don't have anything else in my house!

The Dotto by Hermafix is good too, but is hard to refill until you get the hang of it.

For the money, go for Glue Dots!

Hi Carrie,
I buy my refills thru Viking 6 at a time to save $. It is the same mono adhesive & works very well. So much better than glue sticks.

I like the Mono permanent adhesive..I used to use the CM tape runners....which are very expensive..my demo uses mono and recommended it. I got a bunch at viking.com for a good price ($1.88 per refill for 24). I now use it for scrapping and cards..i do have to use use a bit more of it, especially for heavy paper like the glossy. I use glue dots too, like I punched out a bunch of the Little Pieces.

I HATE mono!!! Put it this way... I won a mono and refill at my old demo's (she moved) new catty party (2004-2005) and I still haven't used the first one up! I think it has terrible "hold power".

I do however LOVE SU's 2 way glue pen. I really only use these. I do also use glue dots, both big and small, for holding embellishments or for extra holding power, but primarily I use the glue pen.

It's funny...my demo uses mono for most everything, and has it out at our monthly stamp club, but she always hands me a 2 way glue pen when I walk in! I guess being her best customer has benefits.

I love mono and I've never had a problem with it not stick, aside from some coated and textured papers. How long it lasts depends on how much you use it. For me, it's worth the price.
