I am going to order the SU! PolyShrink, but was wondering which pack to order? There is a pack of white and a assortment pack. I want to be able to stamp and then color my images. Which one do I need? I see that the assortment pack has black in it what would you use that for? What do yall use?
I personally use the translucent and the clear. The translucent gives the background a frosted look. The clear is just clear. I have never used my black. We sell them in just a white package or an assorted package. HTH!

I use black all the time. I used it to make my mini-book necklaces. Works particularly well with metallic colors, because it gives a bit of depth behind the colors.

How do you keep the metalic ink from smeaaring off..........mine always does that!?????
I don't use metallic ink for these... I use metallic acrylic paint sponged on for a background. Then I stamp with regular ink. After they are shrunk, the colors are set and the metallic paint takes on a suede look. People are always mistaking them for leather covers.
Are you sanding the surface of your polyshrink before you stamp on it? It's very important to give the surface a key to hold the paint.

I agree, start with the variety pack. You'll get the white in that pack. We used to sell the clear and translucent in packs by themselves, I don't know why we don't any longer.
I bought white. I was playing with making the bracelets and someone had posted that you could see the bracelet underneath the p-shrinked image with the translucent so I went with white. It has worked well. I think I would also use clear alot but not black.
I couldn't make up my mind so I just ordered both sets. I'm sure I will use them all. I do wish they would still sell the clear in the pack like they used to also.

Question on sanding. How much am I supposed to sand? When I sand, I can see the sanding marks when I stamp and color.
Also, if I sand, can I use Classic ink?
Lightly Sand, not in a circular motion. Straight one way then the other.you will see the marks a little but not when it shrinks. you have to use permanent ink. the black is ok when its sanded, the basic brown too. i like using chalks to color them in.
One other thing that might need to be mentioned...each color of polyshrink shrinks differently. I have personally found that the white shrinks less than the translucent. Many people recommend purchasing the multi-pack and making polyshrink rulers so you can see how much each color shrinks.
I finally ordered the poly (didn't see this thread though- would've gotten BOTH! ) in white, and it arrives tomorrow. Was thinking about wanting to do this at a party. Has anyone else ever used it to demo at a party? Is it too time consuming? Or too much margin of error? I'm planning it for a party next weekend. Any ideas are appreciated! :lol:
I found a web site that you can buy the polyshrink from. You can buy either assortment of individual colors. It's alittle cheaper and SU gets it from them as well. Just wanted to share for those who don't know about it.
After you stamp with Stazon, do you color in your stamp with chalk, pencils, etc. before or after you shrink???
What do you find works best to color in with?
If I use chalk or watercolor pencils I always color before shrinking.
***NOTE! The colors will deepen and darken after shrinking!***
Sometimes I use colored Sharpies after I've shrunk them. Mostly because those colors are so dark to begin with, I don't want them to be even darker when I'm done.
Something I learned along the way-- Remember how yellow stamp pads are great for cleaning Staz-On off of your stamps? Well, the Yellow and Orange Sharpies will strip your Staz-On off of your polyshrink, even after it's been shrunk!
