I want every one Stampin Up! has. My new favorites are Filigree and the typed words. Can't wait to get my hands on the new Canvas one from the mini catalog. I use them on everything it seems lately......along with Everyday Flexible Phrases. They just add that little bit of detail that makes a card a WOWZA card.
I love them too, Michelle........they just make a card! My faves are Just Jeans (thanks, Lana! ;)), By definition, Soft Swirls.......oh you name it, I love it!!

I have also recently become addicted to background stamps. They're AWESOME!!! I'm having so much fun with them. I love stipple plaid and french script (soooooo pretty!). By definition and just jeans are top on my list of ones to get next! I haven't seen the winter mini so I'm very curious about the canvas one. I'm with you guys, I really love them all!
I love the Just Jeans. I don't have it but my upline is great to let me borrow hers. It is on my wishlist. I can't wait to get the new mini catalog to see the new Canvas bg stamp.
I just love background stamps, although I only have 2 from SU ! But, my next order will have Just Jeans, I figured if I buy it maybe I can stamp great cards like Lana ( I keep telling myself that)!
I only have two but use them a bunch! I can get two images on a regular size of the card stock and then fill in the edges with other stamps (never waste space.) Run it all thru the Xyron and use from there. I love them.
Used the Filigree with Real Red and Glorious Green for Christmas layer paper.
They are expensive intially but when you can use ink to create your own paper well work it! What have you used your backgrounds for recenlty? Stacey
I love, love, love background stamps! My old favorites are Script and Victorian Lace, both retired. My new favorites are Filigree and Bitty Blossoms! If I could afford it ,I would have everyone that SU makes or ever made. I use them lots. I think they give you alot of pizzazz for very little effort.
Happy Stamping!
Janet
My favorite is soft swirls. I use it all the time, and I love how it looks with versamark - so subtle. Can't wait to see the new background stamp in the winter mini.
Not to crunch your pocketbook even more, but you guys are gonna love the Canvas background when you see it....heck I don't even have it and love it. It looks like cross stitch canvas kind of. It looks 3-D on all the card samples show in the new mini catalog.
I've used the filigree inked with black on kraft cardstock. Then tied on black organdy ribbon......makes beautiful notecards. I used the Wonderful Words stamped on cream and matted on black for a simple verse.
I use By Definition as a simple background to cards and then use Everyday Flexible Phrases to accent other small words. Those sets match well together.
I need Just Jeans so I can butt stamp like Lana.....lord knows I've got the butt for it. Is there a warning label on Just Jeans as to a weight limit for butt stamping???????
I love the designs of the background stamps, but I wish SU would make them all into jumbo wheels instead of a huge unwieldy stamp. It's much easier to stamp a full sheet of paper with a wheel than trying to line up those blocks. Okay, I primarily scrapbook, so maybe those of you who primarily make cards don't mind them.
All right-you all know it is the Butt Stamping you like, not the stamp itself....Although they are awesome.

I have Just jeans and French Script. My niece has soft swirls and I like that one too.. lately have been using simple shapes for backgrounds and love that look too, never the same.
I LOVE my background stamps and use them all the time! My favorites are French Script and Soft Swirls. I'm really tempted by Just Jeans and Groovy Lines - I don't have them yet, but know they'll be part of my collection soon. I also really loved and miss the retired Antique Cracking.
I can't wait to get my mini and see the Canvas one. When, oh when, will it get here????
I just got my first one...just jeans and can't put it down. Love it. I can't wait to see the canvas one everyone is raving about !!! I will probably want that one too. Actually- I'm with everyone else... I want them all !!!
Oh yes , I love backgrounds too ! I think I have 10 Of them so far and atleast 6 or 7 more on my wish list. The new canvas one will be added to my list too. It is hard to pick a favorite one cuz I like them all. I think victorian lace was my first one though.
I have one of them and whenever I use it, there are blank spaces. looks kinda splotchy and bad. What is the secret to even stamping on such a large stamp?
If I can figure it out, I might get more of them. (Uh oh )

Jan, I think the "secret" to a nice look to your background stamps is to ink them with a brayer. That keeps the ink really smooth and it will help you get that great impression that you are after. Then, after the stamp has been brayered, it's up to you. Butt stamping is real popular around here thanks to Lana. I've tried it and it works well. But, most of the time, instead of stamping like a regular stamp, I leave my background stamp ink side up on the table and put my paper over the top of it and then, use my brayer again to get an even impression. Hope that helps.
Now why didn't I think of that! Foam or hard rubber?
I prefer the hard rubber for inking up my backgrounds. Good Luck. It takes a little practice, but as with most things, the more you do it, the easier it gets. Also, I sometimes put a piece of scratch paper over the top of the cards stock that I am stamping on. That way, the brayer (which is still inky) inks up the scratch paper and not the cardstock that I am using to get my good impression. But, most of the time, I'm not worried about the back of the cardstock and I just brayer away. Good Luck~
Jan, I've never tried butt-stamping, but I have a pretty reliable method...I put my stamp on the table rubber side up, and the ink it up really good, then I carefully on top of it and rub it all over with a bone folder. I haven't had any problems with splotchy images at all. Stamping it like a regular stamp just doesn't work!
