I changed my avatar picture earlier today and for some reason it is acting wierd. Some of my posts have my new picture and current post number and other posts have my old avatar picture and a lower post number.
Does it take a while for it to catch up or is something wrong? I posted a challenge picture today and that still has my old avatar, but some posts that I have made recently to people's galleries have my new picture It is as if it can't make up its mind which picture to use.
This post used my new picture, but a comment i just made to a gallery used my old one.

Mandy, the best thing to do is go to your computer and delete your cookies. I will tell you in doing this all your passwords for every site that you visit will have to be reset. It is a good idea to reset the cookies often anyway. I will try to step you through the process if you do not already know.
Step 1: Click on tools at the top of your computer(tool Bar)
Step2: Click on delete browsing history
Step 3: Another window will open and say delete all browsing history, temporary interent files, history, cookies, form data, and passwords. there should be a button that says delete all. click on that button.
your computer will start to delete the file history and cookies....it is not harming the computer. your picture should show up after that. i hope this helps. Teresa*~*

eek, no need to delete cookies. it's only your temporary internet files (cache) that you want to delete.
as Teresa said, there's no real harm in deleting your cookies but if you do you'll lose the settings from any/all web sites you've visited.
what's happening is that your computer doesn't know about the new avatar you've uploaded to our server. it sails along using the picture it's always used until our server gives it a nudge and says "hey, there's a new picture, use this one instead."
getting the new picture would happen eventually on its own, deleting the existing picture (your "temporary internet files") just causes your computer to immediately ask our server for a new version of the image. make sense?
Last time I did this, it fixed the problem of my avatar updating in the forums but not the gallery, but now that I have IE8, it didn't fix the problem, I tried Friday and yesterday. Today I learned I had to uncheck the box at the top of Tools/Delete Browsing History that says "Preserve Favorites Website Data". After running the browsing deletion with that option disabled, my avatar is correct in the gallery. I then rechecked the box and ran again, because my FaceBook is all wonky so some cookies must have been removed. But I don't have to look at my Masquerade avatar!
