As SU customers, do you prefer one catalog plus 4 minis per year as it used to be? Or do you prefer the new system of 2 catalogs per year with less minis?
Comments are appreciated!

TAC just changed back to one catalog per year, plus two "magalogs". I for one am glad to go back to one main catalog and would not mind if SU did so as well.

I'm not too upset about two catalogs a year, but after having it both ways, I can say that one a year, plus minis, is easier for me. I don't buy more (which is SU's incentive for having two catties a year).
I, for one, got confused with the mini/preview whatever they were booklets. It seemed like there were a lot of overlapping promotions, and I couldn't keep them straight, even though my demo sent out frequent emails with all of the specials.
I also voted for one catalog per year. It seems to be the standard, even in comparison to all of the online companies. One big catalog per year, and maybe quarterly additions. I guess it would be nice to see all of the minis be available for the remainder of the year if that makes sense. Frankly, I think two catalogs per year is a waste of paper.
I don't like having the dormant stamp list. Out of sight, out of mind. With 2 catalogs, I feel like I hardly get turned around before I'm ready to buy. And then it's almost time for a new catalog, and I don't want to order stuff that will be discontinued,.....so I just wait.

I like 1 catalog. I think that having specials or promotions with 1 catalog would be better than having 2. It seems they have many, many of the same stamp sets anyway. I don't think that I bought more with 2 catalogs.
I would like to add that I do love that the stamps are now cut, and you don't have to mount them.

Ooops! What I meant is....you don't have to 'cut' new stamps anymore.
Another thought - I fell in love with SU stamp sets because they were in groups that coordinated together. For instance, there may have been a large stamp and then several smaller ones to match it. It seems the catalog trend is going away from that. My point is....if you are only going to have sets that are filled with individual images that don't necessarily go together....well, you could just go to Hobby Lobby or Michael's to buy that. IMHO
I also voted for one catalog and the 4 minis. I liked the minis and I think I spent more with that system. The main catalog always has tons of repeats from the previous catalog and the minis were fun to look forward to. I know I spent more with the four minis because of the urgency thing about whether they would be gone and not included in the next catalog. Plus, I feel bad for the demos having to buy cartons of catalogs twice a year and then ending up with leftover catties. I also don't like spending almost $20 a year just on catalogs!!! I would rather buy more stamps. JMO.
Two catalogs is too much. I'd rather spend money on stamps than buying another catalog. It seems all the time and money that goes into producing a new catalog would be better spent elsewhere. Now that they have the online store set up, they could do internet promotions in addition to mini's.
i haven't decided yet...i really miss the mini's, but i like having new stuff more often than 1x. when it was once a year i was waaaayyy bored with the old catalog by the time the new one came out. i also wish they'd do more accessories, like dew drops, etc. because i have more stamp sets than i can ever possibly use to their maximum potential, so i spend most of my money on paper and the other "consumables". i wish they'd give us more of those.....(and i just realized that wasn't really the question....still on my first cup of coffee, and my mind is just wandering! darn that "LSS")
I have to say that I like both ways for different reasons..I do also really miss the mini catalogs. They were nice for new fresh ideas. I do like having 2 catalogs, I am part of a workshop group that meets monthly so I don't have to pay for my catty but I can see how having to buy 2 a year can become a drag. When we had only 1 catty I to got kinda bored with it by the time a new one came out. Having 2 I can hardly believe it is time for a new one already. But I do have to say that having a new catalog come out right after xmas is hard. Money is usually tight for me (as I am sure for many) in january and having that be the month of a new caddy is bad!! I don't have a lot of money to spend on retiring stuff that I think I really need.
I guess whatever stampin up decides I am happy with as I do love there stuff!! But I to wish they had more embellishments, paper and scappin kits!!

I prefer one catalogue too! You just purchase one and the next thing you know , it's got stuff retiring.. and then there is another... They've got so much of the same old same old - one catty would be enough..
I am not a demo, but I know my demo says it's really hard to keep up with for her - and expensive. She just gets a few new sets to demo - and the next thing they are retiring and she can't demo them.
I too wish SU would have a look at this survey.. One catty - four minis!!!
I chose the two catalogs a year option. When there was just one, I would order what I wanted from it within the first couple months. Then I was craving some new stuff. So I kind of like having a lot of fresh new sets and ideas every 6 months.
I also don't mind paying for the catalog. I get hours worth of enjoyment out of looking at it and making wish lists from it. That's economical entertainment to me.
I do think the timing is off though. I think they should shift it to other months than January and July. If they did go back to one plus minis, they would really need to have more available in the minis. There were some that I so looked forward to then when they came I didn't like one thing in it. Also, enough with the dormant list. Either have it in the catalog or retire it.
Late Blossom, I find the exact opposite I actually spend less because I know there is new stuff coming out all the time so I keep stalling my purchases. The minis totally satisfy my craving for "New" stuff

Woops! My post is unclear. I agree with you completely, as I don't spend more WITH TWO CATALOGS than I did with one. Like you, I know new stuff is coming and that makes me less likely to splurge because there may be something cuter coming up.
I prefer the one catalog a year........as it's easier on the wallet.

I think SU went to two cattys so that they could get another $10 out of us. I prefer the old way. I also haven't been liking their stuff as much lately. So many flowers and really, how many flower stamps does a girl need?
I also like one catty a year + 4 minis. My turn for club is February, which is great for me, with the new catty & Sellabration, but there is a hostess set in the current catty that I would have like to have gotten.
I do not like the dormant list, and I also think they should retire stamps just once a year.
Hopefully SU will read the posts on this thread and take heed.
I also prefer one catalog with more minis. I've actually bought less since they went to two catalogs, though this could be because I've begun branching out and buying from other companies as well.
I would like to see them get rid of the dormant list, have more minis and put more in them, and retire more at the end of the big catty, so that the next one has more new stuff in it. Of course I'm not a demo, and I can see that my wishes would not make it easier on demos, because then things would retire much more quickly. So I guess I don't know what the answer is, but I definitely would like them to go back to one big catalog and more mini catalogs again.

I prefer my catalogs in print...i like thumbing through them, marking pages with post it notes, making notes where necessary...and not only do two catalogs cost twice as much for the customers but for the demos as well. They also seem like you don't have enough time to get everything you want out of them. Like, the spring/summer is coming out this month and i feel like the fall/winter JUST came out. I just can't afford the budget to keep up!

I voted for just one, with the mini's. I have to agree with everyone else RE: the stinky dormant list. I DO NOT like that. I never know what is on it, or I forget and the poof the great stamp set that I thought I wanted is gone. booo!!!! I wonder if SU will pay attention??

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one that feels this way--I strongly prefer just one catalog. One of the reasons is that lately it seems that the hostess sets are some of my favorites!! Six months just doesn't give me enough time to earn more hostess sets.
I also enjoy the fun that comes from the minis. Those included just enough new sets to inspire me again--and get me to spend more money.
I so prefer one cat. It can be so confusing to the customers and it is so easy to lose track of what has retired. The replacement cost over the last several cat's is more than I like to admit.
I prefer one catalog with more minis too. I think it's easier. I feel rushed with two catalogs if that makes any sense, and as many of you are stating...I'm not buying more (or less) because of the two catalogs. Thanks for asking!
I like one...minis are fun too...and in between I buy from other companies anyhow.
I used to have a show (I'm not a demo) once every year....since this two-catty-a-year thing...I haven't had a single one! It seems like just when I have a good time that would work out, there is a new catty on the way, and I wait. Then I don't like half the stuff...so now I am waiting for the next one.
If there was ONE catty a year, I would just do it...since 8-9 months is too long to hold out for a new one.

I voted for one catalog, for many of the reasons already stated. I think it's better for the environment too, less paper repeating a lot of the same stamps.
I prefer one catalog, too, with the 4 minis. The minis were so darn cute, trendy, and REALLY fun to get in the mail! Plus, there was SO much anticipation and excitement when it came time for the new catalog. The retirement list also created a big buzz when it happened just once a year.

Yes, me too!! I much prefer my catalogues to be in print. It's not the $10 per catty that bothers me - it's the constant change. While it's true that other companies put out new releases all of the time - they don't have huge catty's - they are small companies with not a lot of image sets out at one time. That I can deal with. And I can deal with looking at that online. I sure wish SU would actually see this!
