Default Adhesive Questions

I love to layer cards. The more layers the better. However, I am unhappy with tomboy because if you store your cards for a while they tend to come apart. I have started using Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive which I like, but if I have lots of layering, my cards become very "heavy and thick".

What adhesives are you gals using?

I've been using Ad-Tech from Walmart and I'm really happy with the results (in fact, I literally just picked some up this morning before I logged on).

I use the ATG. Once you stick it on, those babies are not moving.

Don't you hate when that happens?! I've been using the Tombow Mono adhesive for quite awhile now and it's been working great for me.

Another vote for the ATG...I had the same problem when I was using SNAIL adhesive. Now, even with ribbon ends tucked in, the ATG adhesive holds everything together...forever!

Another vote for ATG! That stuff is super sticky. Once you lay it down, it isn't coming off, at least without taking off the top layer of your cardstock. Tombow just falls apart over time. This stuff has staying power. But you do have to be super careful as it is SOOOOOO sticky!

I use Zip Dry from Beacon. Love it! It gives you little wiggle time. If you have some come out from underneath the layer, you can just rub it off once dry. :-)

Another vote for Tombow mono multi--great stuff! I buy tons of it from scrapbookpal.com. I also use it on my UM rubber, just smear a bit on, let it dry and stick them in a CD case.

I use elmers fabric and paper Craft Bond. It is acid free and remains flexible once dry. It looks just like school glue

I've been using the Tombow Mono Adhesive (like the SNAIL, not liquid) lately, and I love it for the quickness and no mess, but I've noticed sometimes I get a "ridge" showing from underneath, as you can kind of see in THIS card, on the right side of yellow CS.

I don't know if it's due to variations in CS thickness or what, and was wondering if this happens to anyone else, or if there's anything I can do about it?

I also use the Tombo Mono Adhesive, and while it does not always stick like I want it to, it's pretty easy to just fill in any spots that are lifting with the Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive. I would like to try a ATG one day... they look intimidating to me!! But I've heard mostly good things about them.

As for the "ridge", I have seen that before, and I think it always happens when stamping on an uneven or semi-soft surface. If you're stamping on a hard surface then I unfortunately have no explanation!

HTH!

My favorites are Kokuyo Dot 'n Roller or Tape 'n roller if it's a hard item to get to stick, like 3-D thing. I am amazed at how well my cards stay together now that I use this. Plus, it's small and you can throw it in your bag.

I have also heard that the ATG is great.

I use my ATG most often and it never lets me down. But if you don't want to spend that much outright, I recommend the red Duck adhesive from Walmart. It's about $9 something for a pack of four and each one lasts a long time and adheres well. Plus it's easy to get a hold of being sold in Walmart

I love the red duck tape! I just wish they were refillable! They stick well and they're inexpensive if you use a JoAnn's coupon. I agree with you, that Tombow stuff isn't that great. I want something that sticks all the time, not just some of the time

I think once in a while, there is a bad batch of the Tombow adhesive. My aunt and I made my wedding shower thank you's with it a couple of years back and they all fell apart! Ever since then I haven't had a problem but have been leery.

I have had good luck with the adhesive from Wal-Mart in the crafting section, AdTech, I think it's called? I also like the Dot-n-roller from Kokuyo (sp?), that is a very strong adhesive as well.

I use the Tombow MonoMulti in the green and white bottle mostly for layers.

I also use a double-side tape for some stuff. I get it from this place, several rolls at a time. Only $4.25 for 55 yards:

http://www.thepaperpaletteonline.com..._products.html

I use the Zig glue pen for tiny things, die cuts, small alphas and such.

I still use the adhesive photosquares occasionally for small labels and tags that I need to adhere to my cards.

Glue dots for buttons. bling and chipboard embellishments.

Nothing ever comes loose with any of these products. Make sure you press firmly on whatever you are adhering, and don't just "stick it" on there, lol.

Tombro/snail adhesives do not keep. They always fall apart. I cant tell you how many card fronts I have gotten for the soldiers and you can always tell who uses ANY kind of snail adhesive they are always coming apart. I spend a lot of time repairing these cardfronts/cards so they are suitable to go to the troops. I LOVE ATG and Mono Multi. These seem to go the distance.
Blessings.

I am another ANTI Tombow gal. Hate that stuff as everything falls apart on me as well.
I LOVE Zip Dry! A little goes a long way! I buy mine at Michaels. And it has NEVER warped any of my cardstock whatsoever! This stuff is the best!
I am so grateful to the fellow SCSers that recommended this to me.
I also LOVE ADTECH tape runner from Walmart. 2 refills for $2. 97 and this stuff STICKS!

I like the EZ Runner by Scrapbook Adhesives - it holds well, but it gives you a little bit of time to peel the paper back up and move it. The reasons I haven't bought the ATG is because it looks to big for me to handle, and because I always need to move my paper at least once, often twice, before it is right.

Another ATG user here. When I need a liquid, I use Scotch Quick Dry. It's cheap and available everywhere.

Thumbs up

Wow! I had no idea there were so many adhesives out there!!! Thanks to everyone who has shared their thoughts thus far!

For all of the ATG users - what model/brand ATG do you have? I know there are a few out there, but I'm not familiar with the pros and cons of each. Thank you in advance!!

Have a safe and happy new year everyone!!!!

I recently purchased a Glue Arts Glue Glider pro and it has become my new favorite adhesive...easy to apply and it sticks where you put it. I get refills with a coupon at HL or they have frequent specials on their website.

as to tombow/snail adhesive - I too found it fell off after a while. I was told that the simple solultion to that is to make sure you burnish (as in turn over the card/sb page and rub to make sure the adhesive really attaches to the papers)

I don't use liquid glue. I make a mess with it! LOL - gets all over my fingers and work!!

I do like the dot n runner (or whatever the real name is) mentioned above as well.

I've been using the herma, from walmart and michaels. seems to stick for me, and I also have to move my layers around until they are right. The problem I have with this tape is it always falls off the roller, doesn't seem to work real well. Very frustrating!!! Everyone raves about the ATG, but it does look to big and bulky for me to use.
