Hi guys!! Okay, I am not going to write any goofy lyrics, or even beg you to comment on the TOS (but the link is Forums at Splitcoaststampers

If you have changed your avatar so it is BIGGER than normal, or if you have a picture as part of your signature line, you may be inadvertantly causing others (especially those on dial-up) to have an even longer time to wait to see the posts, and in some cases cause people to have to scroll at the bottom to read the posts b/c it makes it too big for the screen (it shifts everything over). Another concern Daven brought to my attention is that the extra pics (etc.) use more band-width, and therefore cost the site more money-YIKES!!!!
While we all love to see the cute pics/blinkies/graphics in signature lines, we are asking that they please be removed. This will help the site save money, as well as help our friends on dial-up not miss any of the action while waiting for those cute pics to load. (and remember when I had my cowbell guy? I loved him, but when Daven told me about the problems with graphics in the sig lines, he was gone faster than you can say "more cowbell!" LOL)

I don;t know Jovi-I think the scrolling over may be the bigger issue for peopel with dial-up as well as scrolling-not that I mind waiting for Rob mind you, but not everyone may be willing to do that.
(and no throwing fruit at me about that last comment Jovita-it is shocking to thing of but I bet there are some misguided souls who like other guys better than him. Try to control your rage!!LOL)

I do frown a little at large avatar/sig pictures and flashy things, but *not* primarily because of the bandwidth costs. It is true that bandwidth has a price, but I don't want to concern people with that; you support the site and you shouldn't have to worry about whether something you do will "cost us money".
if we *were* overly concerned with bandwidth there'd be ALL KINDS of stuff we could disable or throttle down, like slide shows or upload space in the gallery, or inline images in the forums. but where's the fun in that?
my issue with avatars and sigs is more with the other things Britta mentioned - load time and clutter. Rob Thomas *may be* delectable (oh man it was hard to type that), but large avatars and flashy signature lines slow down page loads and have a way of overwhelming the content. you may have noticed already , but I'm a fan of minimalism when it comes to design for the web.

OK, Daven (that's a LONG A).....glad I have an official SCS spewguard on hand (My boss doesn't understand it, but whatever...) or I'd be online ordering a new cordless keyboard today...
