How Late can you be and still call them Christmas Cards?
Started at 10 am today and finished at 3 pm with two short breaks but my Christmas cards are done!!!!!!! except for addressing and posting.....
Granted, I only made 24--but they involved embossing(thanks Cuttlebug), layering , stamping, decorative corner punching (4 layers times 4 corners each piece times 24 cards), bow tying and of course scoreing and folding.
At least they will be postmarked before Christmas Eve this year. Just this week I received a Christmas card from a friend that had three years of news in it........mine won't be that late.
Feels good to be done.

Well, imo it's not over until Jan.6 -Epiphany and my decor stays up until then! Christmas can be any day and it is the thought that counts. I have mailed as late as the 23rd and they were rec'd on the 24th.

Great job! You must feel just wonderful! I have had my cards postmarked on December 24th - I think that's actually early! I have also put a sticker on the back that says - check the postmark - I made it before christmas!!!
I think if it goes out before Christmas day you're good.
I am planning to stay up tonight and get mine put together- they're stamped, glittered, and the parts/ pieces are mostly cut... now I just need to get them all put together and signed!
I agree with 53QueenBee: The Christmas Season STARTS with Christmas Eve and ends on the Baptism of the Lord about a week after Epiphany [probably Jan 11th-don't have a religious calendar for 2009 yet.] So you have a long and joyful season to send your cards.
BUT I think anyone would love to receive a handmade card anytime. Actually any snail mail card anytime.
Merry Christmas - by Internet. See - it's just not the same.

i took 1/2 mine to the PO today. i have another 1/4 made, but need to be addressed, etc. then i have to make the last batch and get them out. oh yeah - and finish making the gifts! LOL thank goodness we have no plans until christmas eve.
and ITA agree about jan 6! i keep all my christmas stuff out until then. since i collect snowmen, the snow stuff stays out until the first day of spring in march ;)

Another Epiphany girl here. I like to think that the cards that come between Christmas Day and Epiphany are extra enjoyed, 'cause the recipient isn't as frantic.

Just finished mine tonight as well. I agree that the Christmas season starts on Christmas Eve (not Halloween! ) and extends to Epiphany. Blessed Christmas to all of you!
Lovin' this whole Epiphany idea! I think I need to start a new trend. My MIL keeps wondering where our card is. I figure if they get it by Christmas, it's on time. I'm 1/2 done. Only 70 more to go!
Vote for Epiphany here too. Last year was the year my son was born, so it was a tough adjustment and didn't get the cards out until a couple days after Christmas. DH reminded me of the fact that Christmas doesn't end on the 25th.
lol!!!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one.....I just finished only 10 cards tonight...it took me two weeks! lol! That's why I stamped "Season's Greetings" on mine....just in case.
I finally finished enough cards the other day, and now I can't find my address book anywhere! I've switched around the functions of all of the rooms in my house so many times in the past couple of years that it's undoubtedly buried in one of those "what the heck should we do with this stuff" boxes. Hope I find it soon!

Hmmm... One year I sent out Christmas letters, on Christmas decorative paper, around Valentine's Day. The "header" of the letter actually said, "Happy Valentine's Day" but was on Christmas paper. My uncle got the biggest kick out of it!
I haven't begun to think about sending cards/letters this year.

I think by Valentines day is OK! LOL I understand how it gets later and later, this year, I just gave up when I ran out of time, they will be the first to get one next year.
Rotating schedule works for me!

I totally agree - I hate it when everyone has everything packed up before the 1st of the year - um the 12 days of Christmas? ever heard of those? ;) it what I want to say to those people!
My Mom had a cousin w/ 12 children. And she would always use the week AFTER Christmas to send her cards out and would always write HAPPY NEW YEAR on them instead of specificallly "Christmas". Mine were addressed the weekend of Thanksgiving and only need to be sealed and are still sitting on my counter!! **Sigh**
A rhetorical question: If you get a card after the first week of January or so, would you throw it away without opening it cuz it might be a bit "late".?? NEVER!!
I'd take a Chirstmas card ANYTIME!!

My Christmas cards aren't done yet as I've been working on card orders instead. I think I'll write in them "I'm not late for Christmas, I'm early for next year!" Taking a break to clean house (that's what I told my kids I wanted as my present.. a clean house! lol) and then I will start mine.

I so have to agree with this I also believe the Christmas season does not end on the 25th. I still have a few to send out and they will be in the mail tomorrow.
I just made mine this morning. I really procrastinated this time and made them this weekend (I made 75). I kept them a little more on the simpler side. I just posted one on my blog in case you are interested.

I just dropped mine off at the PO. Now I just hope and pray that the knot in my ribbon didn't require extra postage. I would hate to see 135 cards in my mailbox tomorrow! Yes, I know, I should have went in to make sure, but I'd rather chance it than actually pay it. After all, ignorance is bliss!
I haven't even started mine. :}
I make 3 levels of cards
1. those who will apreciate the time that went in to them (really involved)
2. those people who are my family and friends (easier to make)
3. those people that are aquaintances and I have to give them something (easiest to make and can whip them out)
I've made one sample of my level one cards and that's it. I cannot decide on what to do for anything else and haven't had the time.
So tonight I will be making lots of cards and plan to mail them tomorrow or the next day.
