I have a question about purchasing a stamp that says hand made or handcrafted, etc. by .....(insert my name here). I have seen many out there and I was wondering what your opinions on these were? I am not a Stampin' Up demo or anything so I don't have to worry about those guidelines.
What should it say? For example...
1. Handcrafted by
2. Handmade by
And what company to go with as there are so many out there, I'm a bit overwhelmed! Prices? The font I should use? The whole thing!!! I really could use some advice from all of your experienced ladies out there!
I also want to purchase a nice return label stamp with my home address on it as well. So, any info on this would be much appreciated too!
Thank you so much ahead of time! I don't know what else I'd do without the help of all of you wonderful , helpful and talented women out there! You all are an indispensible resourse that I am very grateful for!
I can vouch for www.paperangel.com. They have a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and designs at a reasonable price, and they're good to work with. And no, I'm not affiliated with them in any way except as a satisfied customer.
Mine is a self-inking stamp bought from www.vistaprint.com. It is an address stamp that I customized to say "Handcrafted By XXXX" in cursive letters. They often send out offers for free stamps, stationery, postcards, etc...and my DH and I have taken advantage of the deals. All you pay is shipping as long as you don't choose to do any other fancy stuff like a customized logo, etc. They also sell some really cute address labels which I will be ordering next time for the cards that are too dark to stamp black ink on.
You can sign up to get emails for their various offers.
I got the SU one that complies with their angel policy because so many of my stamps are SU. If I make a card that doesn't use SU I just use a marker instead of an inkpad and don't stamp the SU copyright info. I didn't look anywhere else for a stamp like this b/c I didn't think it was really necessary for me personally, but I do know that my local print shop and copy shops will do custom stamps too, and they are ususally pretty reasonbly priced with good selection. It is nice to have your name stamped on the back of your work - that way people are sure you made it, and you have that little extra bit of artist's insurance. And I like the phrase *handcrafted* just because it sounds more artistic. JMO! Good luck choosing!

This place is great! Rubberstamps.net my boyfriend surprised with me with my own personalized stamp. I included a picture of it too. It says " Handmade by... Sue's Sentiments
"creations from the heart" I absolutely love it and use it all the time. It has a handle on it too! :p

Just a friendly FYI -- if you're using SU! images, their Angel Policy applies to both demos AND non-demos alike... ;)

I have one with my name on it and address, (real name), but I also bought a stamp from the $1 bin at michael's that had a peapod on it and said "sweet pea". I dis-mounted the rubber, cut away the pod so and remounted it on a smaller block so it only says "sweet pea". I use that for personal and family cards, as everyone has always called me sweet pea.
I also got mine from paperangel. Mine says "created by" because sometimes I don't use stamps. I think their prices are very reasonable and good product as well!
Dont angel policies just refer to selling our cards, not making them to give to others right?
Correct. I like to use my personalized angel stamp for ALL my cards, though -- it's my signature, just like the little crown logo on those store-bought cards!

I just bought a standard little stamp at Hobby Lobby that has a flowered frog on it and says: "Toadily Handmade". Thought about adding my name at the bottom, but it was too much trouble to write on all of them, so I just stamp that on the back and call it done!
 I can't decide what sort of stamp I want for the back of my cards and that is one reason I bought the Justrite stamper - voila make my own and vary it to suit me!
Can you clarify this for me? What if I chose to sell my cards? FYI, at this point they are just for friends and family.
You would need to research the policies of each company whose stamps you planned to use. For SU!, all you have to do is use one of their approved stamps on the back (look for the ones with "copyright SU!" as part of the actual stamped image). Others limit the quantities you're allowed to sell. A pretty common rule for selling stamped creations, though, is that you cannot mix images from different companies on the same project.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I had never thought about the mixing of images before. Something to look into before selling in the future!

I also like Paper Angel. I have one stamp that says "Hand stamped by"... insert my first/last name and my email address and another stamp that says "Created by".... insert same things. Not all of my "creations" are hand stamped.

It's because you'd have to apply EVERY copyright notice for the various images you used, and no one would know which one applied to which image... it's a mess! ;)

I bought mine from PaperAngel as well and it is great. I've had it and used it for at least 3 or 4 years now.
Question for a SU demo: This thread made me wonder about the customized Address stamps from SU! Since we can have it customized with our address, can we get it customized with something like "Handmade by "name"?"

The ones that you can have made with your address do not qualify for the Angel Policy. There are, however, three different designs that are specifically for using on items that you sell, and you can have your name put on those. The stamps that fulfill the requirements are marked in the catalog.

i bought one from Ebay last year, I think the seller was in Malaysia. Very poor quality. I dont recommend buying from Ebay, it was clear and very hard to stamp with. It didnt even stick to any of my acrylic blocks. :(
