Default looking for "sympathy at Christmas" verse for inside card

I am looking for a nice verse to place inside a Christmas card for a family who recently lost their mother. This will be the first Christmas without her and I know that it will be tough.

All the sentiments I know of seem a little to joyous for this sensitive situation.

Could someone help me and post one here or point me in the direction of where I can find such a verse.

Thanks in advance!

I am wondering about something similar, earlier this year my uncle/god-father/more like a grandfather passed away and I want something for his wife who lives abroad.

I was thinking of a plan white blank, gold swirl and a white dove with an olive branch, on the inside I was going to write something like,
thinking of you through this difficult time, I hope some of the joy of the season can touch your heart.

Here is one I sent to my niece for the first Christmas without her mother:

Christmas 2007 - For Jill (by TeeGeeDee) by TeeGeeDee at Splitcoaststampers

I did use traditional colors but left off a greeting. I handwrote a personal message.

This card was sent to her younger sister:
Ali's Christmas card 2007 (by TeeGeeDee) by TeeGeeDee at Splitcoaststampers

Apparently I didn't put the card for my nephew in my gallery (hope I have the photo on my desktop computer).

I think the main thing is to let them know you are thinking of them and that you know it is a tough time.

here's a poem someone sent to me a long time ago....I'm not sure if this works but it's beautiful....HTH!

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below
With tiny lights, like Heavens stars, reflecting on the snow
The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away the tear
For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear
But the sounds of music cant compare
with the Christmas choir up here.

I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring,
For it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart
But I am not so far away, we really arent apart.
So be happy for me, dear ones, you know I hold you dear.
And be glad Im spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.

I sent you each a special gift, from my heavenly home above.
I sent you each a memory of my undying love.
After all, love is a gift more precious than pure gold
It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.
Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to do
For I cant count the blessing or love he has for each of you
So have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear
Remember, I am spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.

That poem is absolutely beautiful. After I stopped crying I could go back and read it for real.

The first time I read this it was really hard for me. I immediately thought of my mother whom I lost when I was 9 on Dec 6. I don't really remember her but I miss her so much. This will be my second Christmas without my father. It is a very touching poem to say the least...

Here's a verse I used one year:

When someone so loved is gone from the circle, a time like this can tug at the heart.

Quietly, gently may the spirit of the season shine through your shadows and touch your world with warmth and light.

I found more that I had in another document. Unfortunately, I'm in need of another one this year as friend's lost a son to suicide just a few weeks ago.

Praying that you find:
Peace in God's comfort
Joy in remembering [person that died name]
Love with your family and friends

No time on earth is long enough
to share with those we love
or to prepare our hearts
for that last good-bye."
Alorie Tennelle

When someone so loved is gone from the circle, a time like this can tug at the heart.

Quietly, gently may the spirit of the season shine through your shadows and touch your world with warmth and light.

After the loss of a loved one, the holiday season brings special memories of Christmases past and tender moments of sadness.

May God bless you with is love and peace during this holiday season and throughout the coming year.

At this Holiday Season we remember and honor those who are no longer with us and cherish those who are.

Wishing you a gentle season of healing and peace.

Wishing you the gift of faith, the blessing of hope, and the peace of His love at Christmas and always

Wow - you ladies are GOOD!!! I'm bumping this up to the top again because I'm sure there are many others (unfortunately) that will be needing help with these types of sentiments at this time of year.

Thank you all once again!

Thank you. I have been struggling over what kind of card to send someone after a huge loss this year this year too. This will definitely get me started.

Thanks so much for these. Our family has had a horror year on this front this year with 4 deaths to date & one family friend passing away too. We are also not sure how long our 20 yo niece will be with us as her cancer is now in her heart. Reading these makes this Christmas seem not so bad & will enable me to send out those cards that I have been dreading, as I haven't known what to write/say in them.
