HI, I've started to make a bunch of items for gifts and I've noticed that when I cut SU paper with my purple fiskars trimmer it leaves the edges really fuzzy. Is my blade dull or has this happened to anyone else? It only happens with SU paper.
On all cardstock or just the Vanilla and US white? Those two are definately prone to that no matter how new the blade is. I just run my finger over the edge and all is well.
I have a paper cutter - not fiskars-- and when my paper started to get fuzzy, I had to replace the blade and the strip underneath where the blade cut the paper. I guess after awhile, that strip gets worn down and isn't firm enough to give a precise cut. Hope that helps!!!!
At Regional, they mentioned that putting a piece of paper underneath the white or vanilla while cutting eliminates that fuzziness, and it does. I keep my scrap paper from my printer, etc.. in my stamp room now, and use that.

If ALL papers are fuzzy edged when you cut with it, then the blade must indeed be dull.
If ONLY SU! ultrasmooth vanilla or white are fuzzy, it's because of the way that particular paper is made--NOT the blade! Place a piece of typing paper underneath the Ultrasmooth card stock where you plan to cut, and voilá--no fuzzy edges. I got this tip from my upline's upline's SAM. She's high up enough on the SU! totem pole to have a SAM. I am at the bottom of the food chain.
But, my upline's upline is always gracious about forwarding on those tips she gets.

What is a SAM and how do you get there? Ha! I'm always trying to get to places and don't seem to know where or how to get there!
Thanks, Julie, for your tips. Very much!

SAMs are SU! Demonstrator Support Individuals that are specifically assigned to the company's TOP demonstrators that reach certain levels of title within the structure, because of downline/recruiting, personal and group sales achievements, etc.
Their purpose is to assist those demonstrators, who in turn assist their 1st levels, who in turn assist their 1st levels and it trickles on down the levels.
It's just another example of the "Focus on your First" training method SU! promotes among demonstrators to consistently train downline(s).

Just a tip: I keep an emery board in the pencil holder on my work surface. Whenever I get an unexpected fuzzy edge, I can usually rub it away with that. (THEN I remember the paper underneath or change my blade for the next one!)

I have reached the point of being so frustrated with the ultra smooth white that I mostly use the naturals white. Any chance that SU will change something in the ultra smooths so the fuzzies won't happen!
I don't know if all Office Depot stores offer this or not, but the one I use will give you a free pack of Office Depot brand copy paper for each empty printer cartridge you bring in (one per visit). That makes scrap paper very cheap for me.

If they did, chances are, the smooth surface that makes U/S my favorite to stamp on, would be altered and no longer so velvety smooth . . . I've learned to live with it in exchange for the ultrasmoothness . . .
