so I have to count before I can answer. It may take a week or two
Me too! Right now I would only be able to count the ones already indexed. Then I would need to organize and index all the sets that are scattered around the craft room. You know.... the ones that I just had to have but haven't found time to put them away yet.
I stopped counting at 250-most of them are SU! My 30-40 background stamps and 38 wheels are not included in that count! I don't think I need to buy any more stamps for a while!!
I just guessed . . . I really have no idea how many I have right now. Last time I counted, it was over 400 but that was quite awhile ago. I only count SU sets in that number -- yes, I have stamp sets from other places, but if I had to include those, it would be too big of a number!! :o

But you know that you will! ;)
I explain the difference between want and need to my 2 boys.....then after they are in bed, I head down to my craft studio and unpack my goodies!! I guess I'm not exactly leading by example.

I have between 100-200.....counting my stes from Papertrey, Purple Onion Designs, Hero Arts, Inkadinkadoo, etc. And I do purge my sets fairly often. I tend to only keep the ones I use frequently.
I voted - 100-200. Cause I use the excel file to keep an inventory (just took me one time buying something I already had)
But when you think about.... I've been buying SU for 5 years ---- 6 free sets every year (SAB), free hostess sets every catalog (at least 4) -- its not like I "paid" for all of them! LOL

How long have you gone without a rationalization????:-D Yeah--me either! Love this poll! "hey look! I'm not so bad! She has WAYYY more than I do!"

Same here...I do try to only keep what I know I will use..or hope to use...LOL
If I sell some it gives me money and room to buy more...so I do it fairly often!

((Twalk amongst ya'selves. I'll give you a topic... stamps, why the obsession?))
I think it was the other thread where someone said that there are worse addictions...so true!! I know someone who goes to the bar every day after work, and smokes a couple packs a day, figuring that one out....he could have at least $175 a week for stampin' stuff!! LOL
I LOVE looking at my stamps even if I don't use them as often as I should. The more the merrier...
It could be a hoarding thing, but I don't collect figurines of any kind...so I look at it more like that...a collection. But mine can be used, with a return, it gives me a lot of entertainment, and it holds much of its value...some sets actually appreciate in value!

My dh made me put my figurines away (too girly) and my porcelain doll collection too. He smokes (about $8 a pack, 2-3 packs a week), and drinks a case of beer a week (@ $30/week). I can't forget to mention that he insists on driving his 13yo pickup that guzzles gas. So my little addiction isn't so bad considering I make at least 80 christmas cards per year, plus all the birthday/anniversary cards we need. AND I am creating scrapbooks for all 4 kids, and I have been papercrafting for 8 years...
I had to do a quick count.
100 SU sets
12 SU BG's
17 CHF/other BG's
525 CD cases of stamps :o
I just counted my 134 SU and CTMH sets - they are the only ones I track. I have a plastic 6-drawer organizer full of individual stamps, and several other alphabet and clear sets (not enough to push me over 200, though). I totally agree with others: I'd much rather buy craft stuff that I can create with (and enjoy and pass on the creations to others to enjoy!) than clothes, jewelry, stuff for the house... whatever! Unfortunately, I'd also rather craft than clean... Good to know I'm not alone there either!!!
Okay, I want to know how you each store so many sets, how they are organized or catagorized and how you remember what you actually have. The more organized you are the more supplies you an fit into a space.
This thread is cracking me up- I can justify numbers by counting the years I have been stamping as well...... about 15....but isn't it also funny that...even though you may have a jazillion stamps, you work on a project, and you don't have the stamp you need....................

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving

Isn't that the truth? And nothing you can substitute either........

Totally OT, but that is the best smilie! I love it!

I'm in the 100-200 category at the moment.
However, I noticed there is one person who has voted over 1,000. I'd like to know who you are - I think you're my new best friend.

For any of the posted polls on this site, just click on one of the numbers, for instance, the 1 up there and it will show you a screen that tells who answered what on the poll . . . so I know who it is that has over 1,000 sets and I think considering its a long weekend we should all head over to her house. . .

I subscribed to this thread quite awhile ago, and got some GREAT ideas - there are some really creative people out there, not just making cards and crafts, but keeping all their poop in a group, too!
Well, I'm at 235 SU! sets (including wheels) but I have some that are other companies as well. I don't have them inventoried yet (LOL)! I don't think that will take me above 300 though so I voted in the 200-300 range. Then there are all the singles...!
What's scary is how many I have and I only discovered stamping/ making cards in September (yes this year 2008 ). Lot's of $0.99-$4.99 sets from Ebay and lots of online orders since SU market place online opened. I bet my demostrator "loves me.'
;-)

Reason: The year 2008 showed a smiley face so it looked like 200 instead of the year 2008
