I am thinking of purchasing a stamp-a-majig. Do StazOn and other permanent inks wipe off the plastic easily when you stamp the first time for
lining up? I saw a youtube video that shows the ink comes off with baby wipes.
I wondered if that is true for all inks.

I always keep a black, non-permanent dye ink handy to stamp my stamp-a-majig plastic. That way I can always remove the image/sentiment with a baby wipe, or ultra clean and it keeps the plastic reusable. I never use permanent dye ink or Stazon on the plastic.

Usually, yes. If not, a little rubbing alcohol or Ultra-Clean stamp cleaner will take it the remaining residual off easily.

One side of the plastic sheet is for dye and the other is for pigment. I labelled them with a labelmaker to remind myself which is which. Usually, though, I use a piece of tracing paper instead so I can store the paper with the stamp for next time.

I must be the odd one on this. I use Stazon for some images that I use a lot and store it with my stamp so it's ready to use. I have a lot of smaller sheets of the plastic so it makes them easy to store especially in my text sets.
Save all that hard plastic packaging the stuff that's so irritating to get into.... I cut it into squares and have all kinds of it. Then as Rubberlady says just store it in the clamshell with the stamp set.

I use my beloved Purell� to clean VersaFine, Memento, Palette, and other permanent inks from my clear Stamp-a-ma-jig sheets. I use StazOn cleaner to clean off StazOn ink.
Purell� works really well on all sorts of alcohol inks and can create cool effects on stamped and inked projects too.
For ease of cleaning my plastic imaging sheets, I always stamp the image I'm using with the Night of Navy Classic Dye Ink. That color is dark enough to see easily and it cleans right off of the plastic with a baby wipe. You don't have to use the same ink to stamp your image on the plastic sheet as you are using on your project.
This is not my idea but came from another SCStamper on another thread. I have started to do this and love it! Thank you to whomever it was who suggested this
For any stamp that I use more than once, I take a piece of heavy vellum and use that in place of the plastic for my stamp-a-ma-jig. Then I just keep it with the stamp and whenever I need to use that stamp, I already have the image all ready to use in my stamp a ma jig. I love this, especially for sentiments that are used all the time.

Another cheap way to get sheets, is to go to your local store that does laminating and ask for their off cuts. It is also great for making stencils with as it is thicker than the usual plastic.
I was told by my LSS today that the last time they went to order Stamp-a-ma-jig's to re-stock the store...they got notice that it's being discontinued by the manufacture????!!!!!! Does anyone know about this? I think I'm gonna cry if this is true!!

I would not worry too much about that, I know that there is more than one manufacturer of this product and I am guessing that SU! will continue to carry them. As long as there are wood blocks there is a need for them.
When I stamp on my plastic sheet, I usually don't clean it until I'm done with my project which sometimes could be a week. I wash it with Dishwashing soap which usually cleans it. If everything doesn't wash off I clean it with the Mr. Clean magic eraser. Works every time.
Does anyone know where I can buy just sheets of the plastic. I got a Stamp-a-ma-jig here on the buy/sell board but didn't get the sheets.
Wherever you can find stencils, you can usually find "stencil blanks" which you can use to make your own stencils. These are perfect for cutting up to use with the SAMJ. Plus because of their thickness, you can fit the SAMJ onto the corner very easily for perfect placement.
