I'm just wondering how often you spray your cleaning pad with cleaning mist? Between every stamp you have to clean, just every now and then, etc? I feel like I'm using my spray cleaner too much. Also, do you suggest actually spraying the stamp, then rubbing it on the cleaning pad? Any suggestions are helpful!
I think it is a personal choice.
Some people wet the scrub pads under water before they stamp and then spray with the mist.
Others keep water in a mist bottle and alternate...spray once with mist and the next time with water.
I've diluted my stampin mist...so tend to spray it often. Now I make my own stampin mist which smells like Bulgarian rose...so I enjoy the aromatherapy treat! ;)

I dilute my cleaner by 50%, then I spray the dry side of the cleaner pad pretty thoroughly when I stamp. I live in a very dry place, so sometimes I have to give the pad another couple of sprays if I am stamping for a long time and it has dried out some. You can tell how easily the stamps are cleaning if you need to give it another spray or not, I think?
My demo wets hers down with water first, then sprays with diluted cleaner during a stamp camp. She rarely has to re-spray, but I personally think it doesn't clean as well, but they are her stamps, not mine (unless she has borrowed some of my stamps and then I discreetly spray the pad a bit more with cleaner when she isn't looking, ha ha!)

You will of course want to be sharing that recipe right? lol
I spray the stamp not the pad. I keep mine in the garage so make it fully dry before putting it out there to avoid mold or mildew.
I have a spray bottle filled with water and I'll mist my pad when I'm about to use it. Then when I notice it's dry I'll mist again. Otherwise, I leave it.
I asked this question because after I use a stamp, I spray the pad and clean the stamp. But then the pad "feels" dry when I try to clean another stamp, so I find myself spraying it again...and again.....so it seems like I use a lot of cleaner....
I have to spray mine real often too...they do dry out pretty quickly...as for cleaning the pads...I hate to clean them it just takes time away from the stamping so I keep buying more new pads...I have like 8 sets now...7 of them need to be cleaned...lol I am so bad/lazy...

I actually spray the pad.
If I'm in a area where there's a window or fan.......sometimes the pad gets dryer......I may have to moisten the pad again with a spritz or two.
I wash my scrubbie pad after I'm completely done stamping.
I've been stamping 11 years and am on my 2nd scrubbie pad. So not too bad I'd say.
I may have to try the idea mentioned above about moistening the pad first with water.......ummmmm interesting!

I just take mine out of the holder and hold them under running water for a bit...you can see when the water runs clear. I blot them dry with some paper towels and leave them in the dish drainer to dry overnight. Works for me!
I am lazy as I said..I put them in the washing machine on delicate or top rack of my dishwasher with the heated dry off. I have had great results doing either.

2 Tbs Rose water (I found it at the health food store)
1 Tbs Baby Wash (I used a generic brand)
2 Tbs Glycerin (Found in the pharmacy)
I made a big batch by multiplying the above and I store it in a clean juice bottle.
When I made it for my club I made label of the recipe on my computer and then taped them down on fine mist spray bottles with packing tape. This way they could always find the receipe and make more when they wanted it.
Funny, but I never mist my pad, I spritz the stamp and then scrub on the pad. I think in the begining I used to mist the pad and somewhere along the way I stopped. Don't know why???

I use Ultra Clean spray for cleaning my stamps. It will clean any ink, and even ink left on for days/weeks. I bought some stamps off ebay and they were in rough shape - used ultra clean and they are like new. I spray my pad once and it lasts days,, even with the pads left open. I never close my stamp pad cleaner.
As for the blender pens great idea for the incolors.
But I just use distilled water in my blender pens - why do you use the glycerin, alcohol and water in your blender pens? It would be interesting to know, thanks

i also dilute mine. it makes it last longer, and it works just as well.
i usually keep my scrubbing pads open on my desk when i stamp. so i spray them when they start getting dry.
i think it's personal preference.

And how do you refill the blender pens? Or do you just dip?
I also use a blender pen refill recipe, as above, and when I do, I pour the liquid in the cap of the bottle and stick the blender pen in it. I lean it up against something for awhile and it 'sucks' up the refill.
As far as the original question, I spray the scrubber with cleaner first and then spritz with water tp moisten. There really is a lot of the dried cleaner on the pad after awhile, so water activates it and it saves on your cleaner. I have had good success with this.
I'm so glad I came across this! I just put blender pens on my shopping list because mine seem to be dried out. I need to go buy some glycerin.
As far as the scrubber goes, a few things to beware of: I stamp with a group, some of whom like to put the scrubber under water before using. We started noticing spots on our stamping, and realized that it was from spray occuring when we cleaned our stamps.
I personally use the mist, and it seems like it is always dry when I go to clean the next stamp. I am going to try using a spray bottle of water because as the last poster said, it makes sense that there is dried up cleaner on the pad.
As far as the dishwasher goes, be careful! I read here that I could do that, but mine are no longer completely flat, which drives me crazy. I bought a new set, which I now wash in the kitchen sink. I try to remember to do it at the end of a night of stamping. I use warm water and a drop of dish soap. I use my fingers to agitate, and you can see the stuff coming out. I also leave it in the dishrack overnight, so it is ready in the morning.
I try to stamp off on scrap paper until I don't see much image, then use the scrubby, I find I only need it to be a little damp that way, and can extend the time between squirts of cleaner.
Subscribing for information - I just (this morning) ordered new pads for mine - it seems like I have so much black ink on my olds ones that it isn't cleaning right. Now I know to clean them up a little - thanks and keep the info coming.
So does the dishwasher cause the pads to warp? I bought a second set of pads because I never feel I can get the first set good and clean usually because I want to get them back in my craft room and begin working again. A second set should let me give each set a good scrub!

My demonstrator said that if you don't clean the pads every once in a while, you can pull the rubber off your stamp while scrubbing. Don't know if it is true or not. Has anyone else heard this?
Remove both pads from the holder.
I just run it under water in the kitchen sink...letting the water run till it is clear..add alittle drop of dish soap......and scrub away..........rinse really well and blot dry with an old towel. Then you are good to go!

This is false.
You should wash your pads out occasionally because they'll clean your stamps better without the residual ink in them. However, a dirty pad won't pull the rubber off the stamp.
Sometimes the rubber will come off if you are scrubbing very hard, especially with really small stamps. I had it happen once with one of the arms from "All in the Family". A girl that hadn't stamped or cleaned stamps before was rubbing it pretty vigorously over the Stampin' Scrub. If your rubber does fall off, it is an easy fix. I used snail since we were at a camp in Cascade, Idaho when mine broke and it was the only adhesive I had on hand. Still worked great! I've heard others have used Crystal Effects or rubber cement to stick the stamp back on and that works great too.
Back on topic, I spray my pads directly with mist and then gently scrub. If I'm getting weird gunk on my stamps after scrubbing, its time to clean the pads!
I spray the cleaning mist directly onto the pad also. When I'm stamping for a long period of time, I close the pad cover to keep the moisture in. It helps a lot. I wash them every time I use them, blot them well with a dry towel and let them finish drying overnight.
I quit using my scrub pads because when I ran my stamps over them it would fling little water spots all over my work area. Instead I just moisten an old kitchen washcloth; set it on a plate and clean my stamps on that. When it gets dirty I just throw it in with my other dirty clothes and wash it in the washing machine.
I generally spritz the stampin scrub pad...unless I have a very detailed image. Then I spray directly on the stamp.
I have never removed the pads from the holder...I just hold the whole thing under running water (not submerged...I hold it up so water runs off of it) until the water is clear. If I have a lot of pigment ink, I will add a bit of soft soap and scrub it clean with my hands. I then leave it open, set it up on its side and let it dry overnight. It works well, and is quite easy to do. ;-)

I wash the cleaning pads in the kitchen sink using a tiny drop of dish liquid. And before I clean the stamp on the pad, I "stamp off" as much ink as possible. That makes the cleaning faster and gets less ink on the pad. My old upline put hers in the dishwasher, but I seldom use the dishwasher, so just washing them works for me. I usually shake them in the yard, blot them and then lay them under the ceiling fan on the kitchen table to dry them. I never considered using water instead of cleaning spray, although I will admit I sometimes get frustrated and just wash my stamps. If the rubber part falls off, I reattach it with Crystal Effects or something similar.

If your Stampin' Scrub is flitting spots around then it is too wet. It just needs to be damp.
WOW!!! This is one of most informative threads I have seen! Thanks for the recipes and the hints! I do use the stampin' up stamp cleaner on the pad, and never thought of spritzing the pad with water in between stamps. I also have blender pens that will eventually need refilling. Nice to know I don't have to buy new ones! Thanks!

I get as much off my stamps onto scratch paper before cleaning.
I also keep a couple of paint pads to use with stazon, instead of using my usual scrubber. They are also great for background stamps.
I use ultra clean ONLY on hard to clean stamps (I bought a set of ebay also, supposedly in excellent condition - rubbish- they had never been cleaned!). Came up like new with the ultraclean. BUT for everyday stamping I use the receipe with the baby wash, smells devine and cleans really well.
There is a whole thread about different receipes for both the cleaner and blender pen refill.
I have found I get the best results on cleaning the scrub pads with Simple Green.....mine have come back to nearly white!! I just remove from the plastic case...spray liberally and rub...and lay flat to dry. I have noticed that staz-on comes off better if you spray cleaner directly on stamp then scrub...for S/U inks, spritzing the scrub pad is usuall enuff.

White? Mine were black to start with...are yours older or newer. I think mine are 5 or 6 years old.
