July/August Stamping Event
Hi Ladies,
This letter is long overdue and Im sorry. Sometimes life just gets in the way as we all know. There are several items I want to fill you in on for our get-together in July.
1. Prizes (this is Debs post from our thread)
As was discussed at the end of last year's get together (after seeing Barb's FABULOUS kitchen towel set--thanks so much Barb!), we are asking each person attending to submit a handmade prize--something stamping, of course! It can be anything from hand made stamped notecards to altered projects. Something that you have created!
We are looking forward to seeing all that you have come up with, and hopefully will glean ideas from what you will share with us! We will use these for our big prize give away! We will also have little prizes to be awarded throughout the weekend! 2. Shoebox and regular swaps
SHOEBOX SWAP
You design and make one card. In the shoebox you will put all supplies needed to make said card...paper cut to size, ribbons, embellishments, stamps and ink. Everyone will have their own adhesive. You should also include an instruction card. Everyone then rotates around the tables making all the cards. We all make mistakes occasionally so a couple extra pieces of paper would be nice. Number needed: 19
REGULAR SWAP
You will make these cards at home to swap at the event. These will be full cards, not just card fronts as some do, and they do not need to be exclusively SU. Number needed: 38
Ladies: please remember to post-it note your name on the back of your regular swaps so people know who created it...
3. Challenges
Our three Friday night challenges will include: A sketch challenge, a color challenge, and a Way to Use It challenge. You should bring the stamp set/sets, ink and adhesive of your choice for these challenges, basic supplies will be supplied. You may wish to bring extra embellishments to make your design extra special!
4. Items to bring for the weekend:
Adhesive/tape
Inks, coloring items (markers, chalks...)
Tools (scissors, paper cutter, punches if you wish...)
Suggested items:
Any special paper you may wish to use
Basic cardstock colors you like
Embellishments
Any extra stamping you may wish to work on.
Snacks or drinks (you would need to provide your own cooler), coffee will be provided in the conference room...
5. Used Stamp Sale
Several people have asked about a used stamp sale. We decided to give it a shot this year and see how it goes. We will set up in the smaller conference room for a while Friday night. Each person will be responsible for her own items and must have own change bag.

Just a note:
We have heard that there are concerns out there about making up some sort of prize to share. We did not mean for it to stress anyone out...we just thought something simple would suffice...example: a group of cards tied together with ribbon...
If this adds undue stress, please feel free to bring anything you would like. If you would prefer not to participate at all, that is fine as well. If you bring something, you will take something home.
We do not want to make this uncomfortable for anyone!
Hello all! Prize info!

No stress, please! Just a fun way to prepare for our time together!
Hi ladies! MY DH was just up in Iron River, I think that was it, on the WI border to deer hunt. See it is ok for him to take an 8 hour drive to the UP, but he wouldn't let me go last year.
Yipppeee it looks like as of now, that Jackie and I will be attending this fun filled event!
Jon and I decided this week that we will be making a trip up to visiting Jackie and Roger next summer and we are planning the time around your get together. We had such a good time this summer, that I just can't imagine missing it and having to read about how much fun you all are having with out me.
So, now if everything works out, we will be there.

Oh wow Joan!!! GREAT!!! So glad you and Jackie can join us once again!!!
I am so excited to see everyone signing up for the event again!! Maybe that will make the winter go a bit faster...dreaming of Stamping in the UP ;) !! Have a good weekend everyone, Helen
JoAnn,
Our deer season opened today too. In fact, they let a number of hunters in to the state park to hunt because the park is getting over ran with deer.
If we step outside our door, we hear gun shots. My hubby isn't a hunter, but my dad was. And....guess where he went hunting (before Indiana had deer)?
Iron Mountain Michigan. I have some great pictures of Mom and Dad up there in the snow. Dad and his friend went hunting and Mom and Dad's wife friend stayed at the cabin and cooked. Mom has fond memories of Iron Mountain, Michigan.
Just a dusting of snow last night, with a few inches forecast for today. My father got a deer yesterday -- near his home between Onaway and Rogers City, Michigan. Now he is done hunting for the season, which is good because my Mom has plenty of projects for him!

Hi Amy,
If she has so many projects...maybe he'll go get a second license. LOL

JoAnn, good idea. It was in the teens the beginning of the week and some areas got about 8 inches west of us. Our forecast for today is lake effect snow (off Lake Michigan) and could be several inches and to drop to 7 above tomorrow night. I think Winter is here, but I enjoy the idea of staying in and stamping. Of course, wouldn't you know the one day of the week I have to be gone all day. bummer!
I love hearing what it iis happening in your neck of the woods.
I think winter is here in Negaunee.... which has, apparently, become the new "snow belt" of the U.P. We received 14 inches earlier this week and the snow on our porch was halfway up my shins when I left for work this morning. We had our "round robin" stamp group last night, though, and everyone was there! (Except for one person and I don't think that had anything to do with the weather.) So we ARE keeping our priorities straight.
