I have a bunch of pint jars that I would like to use up. I can find lots of recipes for Gifts in a Jar, but most fit in a quart size jar.
Does anyone have any recipes or a list of recipes that would fit into a pint jar?
Can some one tell me the difference between a pint and a quart in ounces. I know that I have heard before but it is something that I don't use very often so I can never remember. TIA.
I bought a recipe book at the check out lane at my local grocery store. It is called: Holidya Gifts from a Jar". It was $3.99. It had cookies, bars, and liquid soap, face scrubs, etc recipes. It even had some gift tags in the center of the book. Lots of good ideas and well worth the price.

I don't know if it will help anyone else, but I have something similar to one of these Gs printed out and stuffed in my "go to" recipe book. It is easy at a glance to do the conversions (I'm a visual person):

I'm doing those this year, too. You can put the spiced tea in any size jar. Also, I have a recipe for Lentil Soup that fits perfectly in a pint jar. I'll send that to you tomorrow (don't have the recipe with me right now).
This will definitely be a handmade "thoughtful" Christmas this year. I'm grateful for all the ideas shared. About 5 years ago, I made jam and had a bunch of jars left over. Time to use them up! TFS everyone! Jeanne
Wow, I am loving this because I recycle so many jars my husband always yells at me wanting to know what I am going to do with them.......now I can tell him. Make gifts for HIS co-workers!

For those of you with men on your lists: A couple of years ago I made up bags of different barbecue rubs I found recipes for on the internet. I made cute little bag toppers for them, packed them all in a paint can decorated with BBQ themed goodies, and gave the whole thing to my FIL with a new grill mitt for Christmas.
You can find recipes for rubs, dips, etc. by searching on things like "gift mixes in a bag", "dip mixes in a bag", etc. A lot of them fit into those little snack size zipper bags.
This maybe not what you were thinking, but I once received a jar with homemade toffee in it. The top was covered with a circle of fabric cut with pinking shears. Then tied with a ribbon. I loved it.
Try a site of giftsfromyourkitchen.com. They have recipes for gifts in a mug, great for gifts to college students. The idea is to give it dressed up in a mug, but you could put in a jar just as easily. The people I intend to give them to already have many mugs.
How about whole coffee beans? You could also tie a cute vintage spoon onto the rim. WM has bulk flavored coffees that are pretty tastey and quite reasonable.
I have also seen colored popcorns layered into pint jars. The tops were decorated with pretty fabrics. I saw these at a craft fair.
I can't wait until I have more time to go back and browse the links provided.
This year most of my gifts will be handmade/homemade.

I have a male cousin who LOVES LOVES LOVES pistachios, chocolate, and olives. If he could survive on just those things, he would. Usually I give him chocolates, but this year I'm leaning towards pistachios. I think a jar of them would be great! Maybe more than a pint jar, though. Maybe one of those big GALLON jars! Hahaa! He'd be so excited!
A lady at my book club told me about a great book called the Christmas Jars by Jason Wright. Apparently, it's a story about saving money in a jar and then giving it to someone who needs it. They sell a paperback version of the book for $7.95 at Barnes and Noble. She said that it makes a great gift when you put it in a large Mason jar. I'm lovin' this idea, and it may be my hot present item for the year!

Our craft group at church read this book and last year saved loose change all year and gave 3 jars anonymously to 3 people in need at Christmas...saved this yr too, but haven't given it away yet. We never counted any of the jars, just presented them...a blessing to all!!

I plan on filling pint jars with hot cocoa mix, attaching a cute tag, and then giving a plate of cookies and chocolates. You can find Andes mint pieces with the chocolate chips and if you melt them down and put them in chocolate molds they are so yummy in hot chocolate (or just to snack on ;) ).

I have a lot of these small jars also; got me intriqued now, also.

the seasonings can be put into a small half pint jar, vegetable flakes can be found at natural
food stores and note added to make soup.

LOL that would be a great use for one of those massive pickle jars ;)
Hmmmmm now I'm going to have to go rooting through stuff to see how many jars I can find - I'm thinking I will be making a lot of these for Christmas gifts this year - I just need to find some "nut-free" jar recipes (preferably cookie ones!) as some of the peeps I want to give to can't have anything with nuts!! Anyone know of any offhand??
