Default SBVC49...faux sheers...10.29.08

SBVC49...faux sheers...10.29.08

I don't know if you've run across the Maya Road sheers for journaling, but they are really cute and fun.

I haven't purchased any of the journaling sheers myself because I figured this was one thing I could do with my stamps. I do have some sheers in other shapes and they are heavier vellum then I have, but it is pretty much the same thing otherwise. For my LOs I stamped my journaling stamp, cut it out and edged it with a marker - WALAA! faux sheer.

my samples:

nice dino

cute choir

I can't wait to see your layouts!

let me try again. I originally uploaded to the wrong gallery, so moved it -- so I guess that is why it didn't work. Sorry (kinda new to all this)

Do you have to use special ink for this? I stamped my vellum DAYS ago and it still isn't dry, I'm kinda of a green horn when it comes to ink and stamping. Thanks

There's my problem I didn't use staz-on. I don't even know what it is I'm just a green horn lol. Heat embossing? does a blow dryer work for that? Don't laugh at me too hard.. hahaha

I'm not laughing! glad you are asking, at least I know someone is trying. ;) and you won't learn unless you ask!

Staz-on is an ink that will stamp and dry on non-porour surfaces - metal, plastic, glass, ceramic, etc. Stampin Up! sells some, so does Michaels and Jo-Ann's. It tends to be slippery when stamping - just be aware of that.

heat embossing - no, your hair dryer won't get hot enough.

Do you have any embossing powder? If so and you want to try it, I have used my iron by bracing it between books and carefully holding the paper by the edges and run the paper over the edge of the iron. I burned myself enough times I decided it was worth it to get a heating gun (with my 40% off coupon of course);)

I've also heard someone say they've used their toaster, but not tried that. You need something really hot.

I've been lurking the scrapbook challenges lately, but I realized that I've been using the keywords but not posting in the thread. This page satisfied several challenges including the faux sheers. Thanks!
