Useless Junk!......or is it?
Okay, so we know about dryer sheets and the brown paper that comes in the SU box. We've got bottle tops and pop tabs. What else is there? What do you use or have you used that normal people (aka non-stampers) would throw in the trash?

I use wallpaper samples for background papers on cards. LOVE them!

Some things come packed in shredded straw. I've used it for straw in farm scenes.

Don't forget someone in another post mentioned the toilet seat covers for when you need tissue paper for those candles.
I save all those cardboard inserts that come with paper, stickers, etc.. to use for matboard books or to cut templates I can use many times

are just a few, I'm a pack rat so I'll have to go through my stash again to share ideas.

My favorite are cereal boxes (especially the jumbo Grape Nuts...nice and thick!)...I cut out templates I'm going to be using over and over because they're easier to trace than paper or cardstock.

I use wallpaper sample books on cards and old x-ray film to cut templates. The film is indestructable - watch out for sharp points!

I like using the mesh that onions come in. Also, some gift shops bag your purchases in really pretty patterned bags.

I bought a little rolling "massager" that has little nobbies on it at the Dollar Store.
Rolled it on an ink pad, then on the paper, Polka Dot background!

When you are mounting stamps, save the scrap, peel the rubber off and use the pad for dimentionals. It's already pre-stickied on both sides. This is a great WOW at workshops. I always knew there had to be something you could do with all that stuff

I got a free toothbrush on an airplane flight to London that I never used because its not my type of brush.
It was sitting in the back of the bathroom cabinet for 2 years and when I was cleaning out I was going to throw it out ... but then I realized how perfect it was to clean acrylic paints out of the crevices on the stamps!

I think I read that you can cut up an aluminum soda can & cut & emboss w/ pressure, metal tags.
I saved a couple gift bags that were made of really sparkly, dazzely paper, but was too smooshed to be used as a gift bag again. It's perfect for punching stars & hearts when you want som razzmatazz & that kind of paper is very pricey at the scrapbook stores!

I punched some leaves out of a dollar bill--and then glued a shiny bright penny in the middle of a sunflower punch. My husband laughed and said I might as well punch cash--it saved the gas going to the scrapbook store and cut out the middleman. :lol: It looked very cool!

Don't forget the insides of some envelopes you receive in mail
also some store bought cards that others may send to you - get ideas, and maybe some snips here and there on card and you have add ons to your own creations

You could also use old toothbrushes as a substitute for the inkworks airgun. Get the brush wet, then smoosh it on to your inkpad and then either flick it, or run your finger up the bristles to make splatter. |

The brown paper from the boxes is new to me - other than just using it for paper - is there something else there I'm missing? :shock:
I tend to get a lot of card/stationary catalogs that have the wrapping paper samples in them (or from my son's school, when they're selling the wrapping paper). I use those samples for cards.
I'm loving these ideas - thanks!! - J. :lol:
