Default How do YOU organize your ideas???

Just saw a neat card by Speedystamper, and in her description she mentioned an idea book she keeps ideas for projects in. Prompted me to ask:

How do you organize all those ideas you come across?

I am soooo unorganized - the SCS "Favorites" is the closest thing I have to organizing my ideas. It's time to get organized! What should I do with all those printouts, sketches, notes, etc???

I'm hopeless when it comes to "paper" idea keeping, so everything I want to keep gets scanned and put into an "ideas" folder on my computer. It's more work that way, but at least I know I'll be able to find it when I need it. And since SOOO many of my ideas come from SCS, they are easier to save that way!

I print them off and put them in a binder. It's not labelled or anything, but everything is at least in pne place!

If it's a card from a gallery...I right click and copy it into a Word document that has my favorites all in one spot...in color too! If it's a scrapbook layout idea that I love then I print it and place in a sheet protector...then file it in a three-ring binder according to the number of photos on the layout.

I have a 3 ring binder with page protectors. I cut out card ideas from magazines, old su catalogs (yes I cut them up!) and printed cards from this site. I try to fit quite a few card ideas but cutting and pasting on plain background paper and them slip them into the page protectors. I also have stamped, or cut out catalog pictures, of all of my stamp sets so I know what I have. This keeps me pretty organized and helps when I am looking for ideas.

I right click my mouse and save ideas from this site in 'my pictures' on my computer. I have a main folder called Stamping Ideas and another one called Scrapbook ideas. I have folders in the Stamping Ideas titled with the name of the stamp set used. Every time I find a card I want to save I save it under the stamp set name. Then when I want to use a specific set and am looking for ideas I go to that one folder on my computer. If a non- stampin' up set was used I save it to a folder titled Card ideas.

I also do the 3 ring binder thing but mine is a 3 inch. I print out all my stuff and put them in page protectors. I have dividers and they are labeled with each stamp set that I have(ok reword...each stamp set has it's own divider. On my scrapbook pages I have them behind one divider. Other things like journals and post it pads have one labeled "other projects" . I hope this helps. Oh I do have a misc. divider too. I am an organization freak.

Default Does anyone sort and store by workshop ideas?

I have all kinds of workshops and I have noticed that I tend to do similar ideas depending on the type of workshop. I just dont know what to do with all of the stuff I have accumulated. I have them in file folders right now.

I do the same as swissstamper. I save them into a main folder Stampin' Up. Then in this folder I have the set name and then save it by the person's name who created the card/idea. My Scrapbook page ideas follow the same route. I also have a folder set up for techniques, directions, business related, etc.

Which reminds me - need to back this up onto a CD. My hard drive crashed last year (virus) and I lost everything - we thought we were able to back up my files, but nothing copied! Live and Learn!

I use to do the 3-ring binder way, however, noticed I was not checking it like I thought I would. It is much easier for me to click onto a folder than to leaf through page after page after page to find what I am looking for. JMO.

I print them out and then scatter them liberally all over my stamp table  I'm hoping if I leave them there long enough, they'll soak in and start making themselves! On the other hand, whenever I'm stumped for ideas, I just start rummaging around and I can usually find something cool to do!

This is a great idea! I'm gonna have to use this one! It will save a ton of space by getting rid of old mag's....I can just clip out what I need/want and be done with it. Thanks for sharing

You can go into your saved pictures folder and click on create a new folder which will create a folder in that one main stamping folder for you to name by set. Hope that makes sense.

Ya'll just have my brain going now! After reading this I thought of something: you could scatter these print outs on your table and cover it with clear glass/plastic. Something see through where you could just slip the paper right under it. (Sorry, I totally can't think of the name of what I'm talking about right now). You could then take your handy dandy lable maker and either label it by the creator or the stamp set used for easy access. Just another thought.

Happy Stamping!

I have a pile of printouts literally an inch thick of ideas that I've printed off from various places. This is nice because I know who did it and what they used (sometimes). I have them in alpha order by set but they aren't in a binder or anything. It's almost easier to sift through them loose. Then I don't have to find room on my table to put the notebook when I find something I want to do!

I also use the heck out of the favorites gallery here. But that's mostly for techniques I want to try or layouts that I like. Since I try to post my work here, it's no fun to CASE everything I like. Then I wouldn't be able to post anything!

Default ORGANIZING IDEAS

Hi,

I have all of my cards, projects and pages scanned and the pictures saved in files by event - workshop / class / camp. Anything that I post on my website gets copied and pasted into one Word document so that I'm sure to have my instructions and materials listed with the picture (also ensures that I never post the same items twice) !!!

I love sheet protectors and binders for saving torn pages from magazines, although I don't know if I could ever tear out ideas from my SU! cattys !!!

I still have a lot more to go to get completely organized, so keep the ideas coming !!!

Happy Organizing,
Myra

Actually, I did think of a good idea right after I posted this. By the way, the word you're trying to think of is Lexan (or Lexon?). The room where I have my stamp table is completely surrounded by windows floor to ceiling on three sides. It gives me a magnificent view, but I have to worry about sun damage to my cardstock. If I were to take some of these ideas I've printed out and tape them up in strategic spots to several of the windows, I would have some good ideas to work with and I would eliminate some of the problem with the sun coming in.
