Default PTI recipe cards...

Does anyone else think that these are just too darn skinny? I cut a piece of scrap paper to size to see how big they were and I was reall surprised. I am getting the Longaberger recipe box for my daughter for Christmas and I thought that I could use the recipe cards to fill it, but they are so skinny they would only come up halfway in the box. It looks as though I will have to get 4 x 6 cards and make my own. Hm.... will I still need the set? Does anyone know of other such sets for recipes?

I have been interested in a recipe set...and that is the nicest one I've come across. I'm not sold on the egg box or card size though.

The cards were designed to be that size to work with the egg boxes. If they were taller, the lid wouldn't fit on the box. Sorry, they won't work for your project!

I thought the set was really cute. But I agree- the cards seem small to me. I have a lot of in-depth recipes that are typed out and are half a page easily. They would never fit on those cards!

The set is modular, though, isn't it? I don't see why you'd be limited to just skinny cards...just stamp the headers in any pattern you want.

ETA: I thought this was really an adorable set, and if I cooked AT ALL anymore, I'd be all over it, lol! trust me, though, nobody in her right mind would want a recipe of mine...

I plan to use two cards for my longer recipes. I think it's a good storage system since the box will hold so many cards.

I have the Longaberger recipe box and it came with Longaberger 4x6 recipe cards. I like it, that's why I didn't go for the PTI recipe set, plus I never saw where the card dimensions were mentioned. I think 4x6 is a typical recipe box style and also when you print recipes offline they usually offer a 4x6 card.

I really like the tall skinny recipe cards... something new. I am not an egg box fan, but I do like the recipe cards! To me, they look more elegant.

I just placed my first order from Unity yesterday and it's for recipe cards. Can't comment on it since I haven't received it, but I'm hoping it will be exactly what I'm looking for.

Considered getting the PTI set as well and combining the two, 'cuz I like the PTI headers, but we'll see.

I'll be finally organizing my recipes for the first time ever so I'm not locked into a size. I agree, longer recipe, two cards. I also like the compact size - that egg box will not be overwhelming in my small kitchen or shelf space.

I asked on the PTI forum if they had considered making an additions set for an address book ~ I would love the same system for my addresses. It's another project I've dragged my feet on. Nichole replied with some interest so I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that one!

Default recipe/egg box

If you look at this link: http://debbiedesigns.typepad.com/ It looks as though they could have been taller and still get the lid on. I like the set and will probably end up getting it, but the cards remind me of bookmarks!

The problem if they were taller is that there would not be room for the tabs. Either you wouldn't be able to see what they say or they would then be too tall for the box. The cards in Debbie's box are also slanted. Each package has 100 recipe cards and that is how many are probably in her box. There is room for a lot more cards so she has them tilted back.

Hope that helps! If you have any more questions, please just let me know.

I bought it. I had always wanted to try an egg box, but couldn't rationalize a purchase just for that. I saw this http://tayloredexpressions.blogspot....you.html#links on Taylor's blog awhile back when she was a member of PTI's design team (before her own fun venture!) and LOVED it! I thought it was a really cool extension for an egg box.

I want to make a small housewarming present for a friend (I had already bought her a present when she bought her place, but she recently had a housewarming party too) and thought she would really like the handmade recipe box. I'm going to make it in red to match her kitchen. I also want to make one for myself for the recipes that I go to all the time and it drives me nuts to have to go searching for them in binders, cookbooks, and on the computer. It most certainly will not be for all of my recipes, but rather for my go to ones...that I do not have memorized! I'm looking forward to using the stamp set and playing with the egg boxes I ordered!

Check out Michelle Wooderson's blog (michellewooderson.blogspot.com). She did a cool sample that turns this into a 4 x 6 recipe card.

At first I was real excited because they were coming out. But a) for me the writing is the wrong direction and b) they are too thin. I understand they are made for that box... but there are other recipe sets and other boxes. Each to their own... Thank Heaven's there are choices.

dumb question here - what is the egg box and how did it come by that name? I'm envisioning an egg carton and I can't see how that works as a recipe box? Pardon the dumb question.

It was first released before Easter... it has a lot of uses. If you go to the PTI site, there are tons of things in the Gallery, etc.
