If you buy "cheap" clear stamps (non photopolymer)
Okay, for those of you who purchase the cheapy poor quality clear stamps like Inkadinkado, Studio G, Fiskars, what ink do you use?
I find that I don't get good impressions with my regular CTMH ink pads. And pigment is a little too thick and blotches the images.. so any solutions? I try avoiding purchasing these altogether, but Inkadinkado's got some really nice sets!

Palette and Brilliance are my two fave inks for clear stamps. I use a lot of Inkadinkado clears and these inks work fine.

I get great results with Palette. It's becoming my go-to ink for everything. (although I still love all the SU colors b/c they coordinate!)

I fell in love with some of those Inkadinkadoo clear sets & was pleasently surprised at how beautifully they stamped. Not poor quality in my humble opinion. Just because something is less money doesn't automatically make it less quality. I've used Memento Dye ink, Adirondack Dye ink, & Marvy Dye ink and I haven't had a problem.

I have quite a few inexpensive clear stamp sets, Studio G and others like Inkadinkado.
I am fond of Versafine Onyx pigment ink and get good results with it.

I've been really happy with my Memento inks, especially with the Inkadinkadoo images. There's a good variety of colours (24 for now), I imagine they may expand the line to include more colours. They have full size, dew drops, and even markers now!

I like the Versacolor pigment inks for the clear stamps. A good quality dye ink is also good, such as Andirondak. I like many of these stamp sets, as they can be quite nice. I love the prices too!
For many of the sentiments, I use the versacolor inks, then clear EP and heat emboss. They show up nicely! And look elegant!
If I choose an ink that at first doesn't work as well, I pick another I know will have the effect I am looking for--I will try colors to see how they take to the stamp, and try to remember what works best. I know the versacolor pigment inks work great!

Another vote for Versafine ink! Love it!
Also have good luck using Colorbox Chalk inks with Studio G and Inkadinkado clear stamps. Ink and stamp off several times on scratch paper when stamps are new to break them in. I also use a mouse pad under my cardstock.

Hello all a newbie here taking the plunge!!
I, too, use Versafine black or grey for clear stamps and the detail comes out perfectly. Wouldn't use anything else with clear stamps now.

Besides the fact the VersaFine works so well on clear stamps, even the cheap ones, it also is great for Prisma's and Gamsol, Copic use or water coloring!

I'm pretty sure Inkadinkado stamps are polymer. They work great with my SU dye inks. I just buffed them all with an eraser first. I haven't tried the other brands.

I don't think they are at all. Compared to the quality of PTI, CTMH, Hampton Arts, Hero Arts.. it is entirely different. Even the way they stick to the transparency sheets they come in are different. |

Tonight...I had this problem and I took my versamark pad and inked up the stamp. Without stamping I then applyed the dye ink and this seemed to help a little.

Another vote for Versafine pigment ink. It's a great product - the colors are deep and rich, it dries quickly, doesn't smear when used with watercolors and works on any kind of stamp!  __________________

I don't know. I saw several places that listed them as polymer, but most of them were ebay auctions, so I guess that doesn't necessarily make it true. I just looked on inkadinkado's website, and couldn't find anything that said what they were aside from clear. I do agree they are different somehow. I'm very happy with the quality though. They don't stick as well, and do fall off while cleaning more, but I think they stamp every bit as well as paptertrey stamps (haven't tried the other brands). |

I have a lot of CTMH ink pads & like someone else mentioned I buff them w/an eraser...and they stamp fine.

I dont have any problem inking my clear Inkadinkado stamps with Brilliance, Mememto, Versafine, or pretty much any ink really......and I would not put Inkadinkado clear stamps in the same league as Studio G or other budget clear stamps imho.

I have never had a problem with my clear stamps (regardless of the price range) when I first stamp it into versamark clear and then the ink I am using.
and, the Studio G stamps are made by HamptonArt which is a well known company that carries a large variety of stamps. I also have some of their larger clear sets and love using them. Check them out sometime - I am not affiliated in any way with them but do like their products. |

Krisis, I have to ask. If you're going to ask such a condescending question of "those of us who purchase the cheapy poor quality clear stamps", why in the world would you want to know which ink to use on them? Surely you wouldn't be "one of those people" too, would you? Why not just stick to the overpriced stamps of the world that would play nicely with your expensive inks?

I have never had a problem with the so-called "cheap" clear stamps by using Memories pads, Ranger Archival or distress ink pads. Now the "cheap" ink pads sometimes do not give good coverage... I am talking about the no name dollar store type ones.

Oh please spare me the dramatics. I was not referring to the people. I have bought many of these sets myself only to have it collect dust because I cannot get a good impression on them. I posted asking for help on which ink works because I would like to continue buying these stamps. Please do not twist my words around. It is so unnecessary!!!

Cheap or less expensive? I have Hero Art clear stamps that are harder to stamp than some of my lesser costing brands. If I rub an eraser over the stamp I can use almost any ink. I like chalk inks the best.
Note that I'm not a big fan of clear stamps. I prefer unmounted rubber, so I only buy clear stamps that are inexpensive or are sale.

I love Inkadinkado clear stamps as well as others. I rub an eraser over them and then use chalk inks or versafine and get wonderful images.

hmmm, maybe i will have to check out some of those inks. I have only ever really used CTMH inks, and i LOVE them. . . .but i agree. . . the ink doesn't work on the less expensive stamps like Studio G and typical "dollar" type stamps. I had some KI Memories stamps that i got rid of because i could never get them to ink at ALL! Thanks for all the info girls!!!

I agree; I don't consider Inkadinkado 'cheapy, poor quality' stamps! I just bought 3 more sets cause I like them so much! I haven't had any trouble getting a nice image using Palette Hybrid, Momento and a couple of others. __________________

I just bought several Inkadinkado sets but I conditioned first and now they stamp just as good as a top line clear stamps. You can use a white eraser or I use a fine sand paper. I use the sandpaper that I use for my Prisma pencil stubs. It takes off that factory stuff and primes them to hold ink great. My SU classic inks work perfect on them. Hope this helps! |

Here is a card I just made from one of my new Inkadinkado sets. I did condition this stamp before using and it really makes a difference.

I also use Pallette Inks and have agreat results. Love the less expensive stamps...I guess I love all kinds of stamps.
