Default Halloween preschool treats?

Any ideas on things to make for preschool Halloween treats? I liked shutterbug's idea of playdoh kits (did for graduation I think), but also saw a treat someone made that was a cookie cutter with a recipe for sugar cookies included. Does anyone have other ideas besides bag toppers with candy? I have to make 25 of these. TIA!

My SU! demo gave me a great idea for halloween treats. You make a bag topper with a stamp that can be colored but just stamp it, don't color it. Inside the bag you put crayons, markers or pencils so that the kids can color the image themselves. Crayola do custom boxes of crayons and I got some made with halloween colors (black, purple, orange and green) and used some Witch/vampire Riley Moose stamps for the images. I will also put a mini playdoh pot and a chocolate lolly into each bag.

I have to make about 40 ( son in preK daughter in K) and I am doing the 2 4 6 8 boxes in olive with the hair and such to look like frankenstien.... cute, and not crazy hard. I started this week, so I can get them done in time. Planning on little baggies with kisses or something inside.

I don't like to contribute to tooth decay, so I started giving out tooth brushes last year. I'll be doing that again this year too. I'm going to wrap them in dp or I may put them in pouches with a travel size toothpaste.

You know those cute Frankenstein cards out there? I'm doing those as treat bags -- just using the small green treat bags from michael's ($2.99 for 16). Then punch circles for the eyes, draw mouth and purple hair.

My kids are so excited and are even helping punch.

I have to run right now, but I'll try to post a picture tonight.....

You could do the coffin boxes, but put something else inside besides the mini candy bar if you can't pass out candy in school. Maybe the little pencil grabbers or erasers, or the mini pens that the kids like and seem to buy all the time at the school store.

Last year I bought a case of crayons when Wal-Mart was selling them for school supplies (20 cents each). My son & I made bag toppers, and each kid got a new box of crayons with a few smarties! They loved them.

This year I'm doing a hershey bar with the Frankenstein. He is just the cutest darned thing! The girls on here are so clever - I could never come up with something as great.

What clever ideas ladies! I love the bubbles, that is cute and very inexpensive because I've seen the bubbles in cases for like 5.99. Hmm.. too many choices now. I guess I know why I started this thread.

sorry...
ummm,
bubbles are often an 'outside' treat...
some places frown because they wreck carpet,
or make floors slippery....
please plan for that
ask me how I know...

I made the choice of bubbles one time for church basement playschool
one teacher had on her scary face ...just for me...:(

these are super gorgeous though !
really sharp, slick looking...

(please don't flame me...just trying to help!)

for older kids at school it might be great!
... the teachers might thank you for having skipped the sugar...!

toothbrushes are a super idea !
wtg!

some moms I know give out the sugarfree gum in paper wrapped cases...
you can cut big packs in half or quarters too
and there was one design that had 6 or 8 pieces of gum (chicklet kind) showing as the ribs of a skeleton...I'll look but I don't think it was here...

I don't have a picture, but when my DS was in preschool, I wrapped up a few treats in orange party napkins, gathered the napkins up into a round pumpkin shape, and wrapped the top in green floral tape to make a pumpking stem I added a green paper leaf with each child's name on it, and attached with a corkscrewed brown chenille stem. Arranged them all in a shallow basket tray on a bed of green paper shred, and added a sign: Miss Julia's Pumpkin Patch. It was a huge hit and it looked really cute on the party table.

Lightbulb Non candy/food

I recently bought a 10 pack of Halloween pencils from Target $1 spot. I also saw some at Wal-Mart in the Halloween isle reasonablely priced. With some punches you could embellish them with puched scalloped type for toppers.
Kind of like these...

I did bubbles last year, I think I bought some pack online from a party store, since I didn't want the tiny bottles. I wrapped them in dsp, tied on some ribbon, and added a tag with a little stamped image. They were SO cute! I got SO many compliments from them from parents! They loved that it wasn't a candy treat, and that it was something fun.

If you are concerned about what the pp said about them being opened indoors, why don't you run it by the teacher first just to preserve the peace?

I just thought of something else...have you seen the Martha Stewart lunchbag witch's broom treat bags? They are super cute and inexpensive!

I love this idea---so simple, but I am sure so cute. Now I am going to have to make one to see what they look like!

organizedchristmas.com is one of my favorite sites - they also have great tips for other holidays. Here's a link to their Halloween posts:

Here's the treat bags I made for DD's Kindergarten class last year - nothing fancy, I just covered brown lunch sacks

And my TAC friend Bridgett has some cute things in this post

I love how she made the sour cream container into a bat! I'll be doing that for DS's 3rd grade class this year!

Default Halloween treats

Hi! I didn't want to give my son's class anymore candy, as they will all have too much as it is. So, I got Halloween pencils, erasers, some of the glow stick bracelets and little Halloween notebooks. I made up some pencil holders out of CS, and put the pencils and the glowstick in there. I used a glue dot to stick the eraser on to the front of the pencil pouch, I put that into a cello bag and added the notebook, and tied it with ribbon. He was so excited about them he's been asking to take them everyday for a week now. Tomorrow's the big day, so he will be happy!

Good luck!
Maria
