TLC187 Mark Your Spot {9-22-08}
Now that school is back in full swing, you may find more books around the house. Text books, literary assignments, or perhaps just a novel you have been trying to complete for months (ooops, that me Im talking about). With all those books being read, everyone can appreciate a pretty and creative way to save your place.
Todays challenge is just thata way to create a bookmark that is a little different than the typical long rectangle that we are all familiar with.
Shelli Schmidt, a/k/a mcschmidty sent me a link to a great tutorial on making these cool and unique bookmarks. The tutorial was created by Godelieve a/k/a Stampingmathilda here on SCS and what a fun alternative to the traditional rectangle bookmark. I hope that you will give this project a try and then either use it yourself, or give it to a friend who loves to read.
You can get the dimensions/template for this bookmark HERE.
I have posted my sample, which can be seen HERE. - and HERE and HERE.
For Godelieve's sample, click HERE and HERE
Be sure to use the keyword TLC187 when you upload your project.
To see all the creations for TLC187, you may visit the gallery HERE.
Edited to add:Gather up your watercolor paper and fine mist spray bottles for next week's challenge.

What a fun challenge, Lynn. Would you believe I have no books laying around waiting to be finished? Once I get a book, I finish it that day! hehe

I have a few Christian romance books I'm done with... you want me to send them your way? I get 4 new ones in the mail every month and they've been piling up since I wasn't able to concentrate with my illness.

I've seen the triangle piece as a bookmark... even made some for convention a couple years back. These look MUCH EASIER to create! Thanks gals for the instructions as well as the inspiration. Can't wait to give it a go!

We did a similar bookmark for the Sept. 2007 VSN, but thanks for another cute challenge, Lynne - can never make too many of these fast and simple bookmarks for little gifts. I hope you don't mind, but I used the tutorial found here: http://stampdetails.blogspot.com/200...-bookmark.html It was the one we used for VSN and for some reason, I found it easier - just call me dense! Anywho, here's my
Purr-fect Day
Everyone have a fun and happy day - can't wait to see these little cuties!

How neat looking. I'm an avid reader with several books on the go at any time. I usually manage without bookmarks, though, and at the moment I have an oversupply of origami ones from DH with little folded cranes on them - but I'll still give this a go, LOL.

Super idea! I don't have a printer right now. Just wondering what the up down dimensions are?

It looks like the length is 5-1/8" but I don't see any height measurement? Does the height not matter? Guess I'll have to go downstairs in a bit and play with some paper!

I can't find a height measurement on either of the links. Am I missing something? Guess I'll have to experiment.
