What to do with SU Die Cut rubber leftovers?

I know one of you out there gave us a great idea for using the leftovers from die cut stamps. Now own up - who are you and what do U do with them??!!

I did keep one of the Star Studded that the big star came out of. I cut around the "cutout" for a star "frame" Looks great when stamped!

I also know that some use them as pop ups. peel the backing off, stick it on your card, put some adhesive on the top rubber part and them your cut out image on it.

I give them to a friend who uses them to carve her own stamps!
She did some really great western theme ones for me last year.

You can use the leftover rubber for reverse masking. I haven't actually done this, but I'm saving some of my lefovers for this future use.

I keep all mine. I have them in a container awaiting inspiration! lol
I was planing of cuting them all into little triagle shapes and making my own geometric back ground stamp with them. I have also thought of giving the scraps to my kids along with a wooden block and just see what they come up with.

1) Where I had sufficiently large piece, I punched out some shapes out of it, then add ez cling foam to it and made my own little stamps.

2) Where the peices were too small to punch out, I just used them as dimensionals with some glue on one side.

Never wasted anything out of it.

Toss most of mine...but I did put just the rubber (tore off the sticky backing) through a couple punches to make my own images...got a star, an oval (great for grounding images) and a scallop stamp now!

I happily toss them ALL.
Oh, I started to save them in the beginning . . . many, many years ago. Soon I was overwhelmed by the volume of them. And really, honestly, they weren't worth the time and effort of trying to reuse.

My youngest enjoys sticking them on pieces of construction paper. So I save them for him!

I used some smaller pieces to level out a shelf the other day, just kept layering and sticking until it was level. I also used the large square from Holy Triptych on the bottom of a metal tin to keep it from scratching and moving around on a shelf. Debbie

This is the best idea I've ever heard for using leftover rubber scraps! How creative. Now I might have to start saving it. NAH! I'll probably keep tossing.

I have used some to create other stamps out of --- I have a little brick I made by cutting it into a rectangle...

also you can use they to pop out elements on your card. I don't do this myself, but ya can!

Most of them i just trash!

I have an old dresser in my bedroom - the mirror attached to it is really heavy and the screws that hold the mirror to the dresser are beginning to strip with age.
I noticed when I was repainting my bedroom over the weekend that the mirror was scratching the paint off the wall. I didn't want it to do that to my new paint so I attached some of the pieces of scrap rubber to the back of the mirror where it touches the wall.

Good question. I never knew there were so many uses for these annoying pieces of rubbah' I usually just toss them after I have saved up a whole jar full. I just don't have the patience to use them as dimensionals.

I used two small pieces to level my VitaMix machine because one of the little rubber counter protector pads had fallen off and gotten lost. It works perfectly! Also, the shop teacher at our local highschool made several wood blocks for our card swap club to mount the rubber scraps on. You can be as creative as you like making large mosaic-like background stamps.

I have heard people say they put them in the backs of photos hanging on the wall to keep them from rubbing the wall. I have a cabinet with a glass door that I put a piece on the inside of the door to cushion it when it closes. How about cutting squares or circles and using them on the bottoms of stamped tiles? I also know people who use them to make shaker boxes with.

Ummmm.....well, this might be a little personal, but we have a wrought iron headboard that uhhhhh hit the wall so we put some on the back of the headboard to keep it from making so much noise.:oops:

I used to keep them for dimensionals but I gave that up as I found that it is much easier and not that expensive to buy dimensionals at the $1 store.
I always found the ones from the hostess sets never worked that well anyway.

Beacuse of this thread, I now have purple "SAB" rubber inside all my cabinet doors that lost their little "bumper". Thanks for all the great tips ladies! No wonder I can't get away from this site. I may miss some valuable life lesson!

I recently discovered a use for them... I'm in the process of making 65 "identical" housewarming/birthday invitations. Inspired by the metal "stop" on my Scor-it boards, I used a strip of leftover rubber to create a "stop" on the swing arm of my Fiskars cutter at 5 1/2" and then at 6 1/8". It made the 65 cuts (per dimension) breeze by...

And surprisingly the adhesive on the rubber left very little residue and was easily removed.

I used a 2 x 2 CB die to cut out a small heart. Its so cute! I use it to sign the backs of cards. I pulled the padding off first, so I just cut the rubber.

The Die Cut ones can be used as a stencil. You can stencil it with a sponge and ink.

I haven't tried it yet but thought about using it to stencil a shadow shape and then stamping the stamp over the top.

I pitch them! It's very good therapy for me because I am by nature a hoarder and a pack rat. I'm desperating trying to turn over a new leaf and not hang onto stuff I'll never use.

I used to hang onto these and never, ever used any of them - they're too high IMO for dimensional alternatives and I'm not talented enough to make stamps of them!

i have 'recycled' mine for years - i HATE throwing them away, but have no personal use for them. so i give them to a friend who has WAY more patience than i when she uses them as dimensionals.

i AM going to try cutting some in my cuttlebug however [LOVE that tip Jutta]. i tried a punch, and just can't seem to cut through the rubber. but my CB should make it a little easier.
