How I cleaned the Stazon off my stamps
At my Stampers 10 Friday, we used quite a few stamps to make tiles and they were stained with the Stazon. I squirted baby oil on one side of my Stamp n Scrub, scrubbed the stamps on that side, then on the dry side, then on baby wipes to get rid of the extra oil. Then I scrubbed my Stamp n Scrub pads with dish soap and hot water. Looks like it worked!

Great idea! And don't you know I just bought the staz on cleaner last week! Will have to remember that for the future!

I had read somewhere that oil conditions the rubber. I've been using baby oil for about a year now, to clean off Stazon and haven't had any problems.
I also posted my cleaning method hoping that if anyone knew of any adverse effects, I would hear about it :shock:, but I haven't noticed any problems __________________

Stazon carries a cleaner, I don't know why SU doesn't sell it.

I use a cleaner called by Judykins which works great but smells terrible and it's very strong. I'll have to try the baby oil. Thanks!

Try the Yoyo Yellow ink pad to clean your stamps! Works great. I bought an extra yoyo yellow specifically for this purpose. Something about the yellow #5 in the ink that does it I guess!!!

Please be very careful about using any kind of oil on your stamps. A couple of years ago, I cleaned a brayer with the moisturizing soap we had at our bathroom sink, and the rubber is still sticky. You don't want to risk ruining your stamps. (Is anybody here old enough to remember the health class warnings about vaseline and certain prophylactic devices? :oops: )

Baby oil is mineral oil with scent, right? I think that'd be okay on stamps. Vaseline is petroleum based...and condoms are latex. I don't think that our stamps are latex...but I could be wrong....
Anyone know for sure?
I am hoping the baby oil is safe...I LIKE that idea...plus I have a whole big bottle of mineral oil in my cabinet!

I think it's always good to be cautious. I did go back and check the stamps I cleaned with baby oil last year at this time and they seem fine. __________________

Great tips! Now, does anyone have any tips for cleaning ink off of the wood? My MIL borrowed my stamps and they are a mess!! She used them for a church bazaar. I didn't realize that they would become so blackened from the usage, but now I know not to lend them out again!
But I digress, other than lightly sanding the wood, any tips for cleaning the ink off of the wood? I'm not sure what kind of ink they used.
Shame on me for lending out my stamps!

I wonder if the soap you used had some kind of citrus in it. That will make plastic really sticky (learned that the hard way). It might do the same with rubber.

Next week I'm doing a tile class with 12-15 ladies and wasn't sure how I was going to manage the cleaning part because they will be using several different colors and I only have one bottle of Staz-On Cleaner. This will be much better if I can set up stations with my cleaning pads and baby-wipes! This site is so great...solutions pop up even before I start really asking the questions  |

Yes, it is standard to AVOID oil when cleaning stamps as it will eventually breakdown the rubber. 2 key things contribute to the breakdown of rubber: oil and sunlight.

Conditioning with Versamark seems so odd to me. I mean, it's so sticky and never seems to go away. Why is it a conditioning agent? (Not doubting you, just wondering)
