A tip about Acrylic Blocks

Several of my blocks were getting a white scum or film on them from my stamp cleaner(Ultra Clean) & baby wipes. I regularly washed them in soap/water but it never came off. My girlfriend was over the other night and she said try the cleaner you use on your stainless pots/pans, you know the powder stuff (mine is Glo). So I did and I just rubbed the Glo on with my hands and they came out perfectly clean. Hope that helps someone else.

Hi all,

Also Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works nicely to clean off your acrylic blocks. I know we always have them in the house with a little Picasso who occasionally uses the walls as a canvas! ;)

I have been told you can use it to clean red rubber stamps (ink stains) as well but I have never tried it.

I wonder if Glo is the same as Bar Keeper's Friend? I use this for my pots and pans as well as my smooth cook top. It is a gentle, non scratching, powder.

I'm sure that will work as well. As long as it is not abrasive. I did use a nylon scrubby on one of my blocks and it scratched it. Thats when I decided to use my fingers to rub. My blocks were so bad that the stamps weren't sticking to them anymore.

I've had good luck using hand sanitizer to clean my blocks, but I'll keep the Glo in mind if they need a deeper clean.

Yep, I use the good old Mr. Clean Eraser too. I'd be afraid the pot and pan cleaner might scratch the acrylic blocks?

I could have used this tip before I went and used comet on his blocks. Yikes, now I can hardly see the set up lines.

Thanks for the Magic Eraser idea. I have never seen Glo but I do have a Magic Eraser so I won't have to buy anything else.

Hand sanitizer contains alcohol which over time can damage your acrylic blocks by causing hairline cracks.

Oh fabulous tips! Mine are looking pretty scary. I also read on someone's blog that you can use hand sanitizer, but I never buy that stuff and haven't tried it myself.

When mine get yukked up, I clean them with my EZ Duz It stamp cleaner - I know it's supposed to be for cleaning the stamps, but it works quite well on the blocks as well, and it's proven safe for the blocks.

I use rubbing alcohol which removes the white film easily.

I use a magic eraser, too, and it comes right off.

I had Stazon ink on a lot of my blocks I could not get it off. I looked around my room for something else to try. My Mineral Spirits took it right off.
