I use the heavy duty transparencies and haven't had a problem with it being thin.

I too am looking for someplace to buy acetate sheets and/or heavy transparencies...do you buy them PRECUT ?? or do you have to cut them? I tried an OLD one laying around work and used the big paper cutter..or tried!!
Got all bunched up and couldn't cut it.

I am looking for "whatever" people use as overlays on the front of their cards...have seen some really NEAT cards made!!

Any suggestions, links, etc. would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!

The Angel Company still sells the acetate sheets.
I wish SU still did.

I think Cornish Heritage Farms sells the sheets. I have never used acetate but would like to. I will be following this thread for a good source.

I use a product by Grafix and I got it at Hobby Lobby. It is much sturdier than the 3M transparancies that I had. You can see it here

I have see the package listed above in the art section of HL. Not anywhere near the stamps/scrapbook stuff, but I have not tried it yet.

I haven't seen it at HL myself, but if it is there, I would imagine it is near the paints/pads/pencils/drafting supplies.... one of those aisles.

It is in the Art department at my Hobby Lobby. I asked at the framing desk that is near the Art dept and the lady working there went straight to it. I asked for Acetate though. The link that I posted is HL's online store. I used a coupon when I purchased it. I have a Santa card in my gallery that used it.

I bought the same thing from Hobby Lobby and ended up returning it today. They weren't thick enough for my liking.

Flourishes sells what they call Clear Cardstock. It is heavy acetate. I was going to put a link, but they must be out of it because it's not listed at the moment.

That's who I was going to buy it from, but I also noticed that it wasn't on the site anymore. Last week it was there, and now it's not. I thought maybe I was losing my mind. Thanks for putting me at ease and letting me know that I am not crazy.

I am looking for acetate that is very strong like the acetate used in making these cards. I can get them at Archiver's but I was looking for a cheaper alternative since I will need enough to make 50.

I think the one I returned had 24 sheets in it. They also have big rolls of it. You can get more bang for your buck with the rolls.

Default Staples

I use clear transparent report covers made by GBC from Staples. They are much thicker than regular transparency. They only come in 8 3/4 x 11 1/4....oh they're by the binding stuff.

I've made clear scrapbooks with these & my BIA.

We don't have Staples here, but I am going to check out the website. It must be pretty thick if you use your BIA with it. Thanks!

Try Staples or a Business Office store. That's where I get mine.

Try Dick Blick. I got 10 2' x 3 ' sheets for 99 cents each.

That should be way plenty

yes those are what I've used. They're thicker than transparencies but can still be cut with scissors.

I use the clear report covers too. Staples, Office Depot, OfficeMax usually sell packs of just the clear covers. Also, you can find some good deals on eBay, just be sure to check on the thickness.

It's VERY expensive. I just remember that it was going to cost me $45 for enough to make 50 cards. So, probably about 4.50 or so for a pack of 10 sheets. I suppose if you just need one pack and use a coupon, then it would be very reasonable.

All I know is that .005 and lower are not thick enough.

I am going to Archiver's today to see what thickness they carry because I know it was the perfect thickness. I will report back to you!

I am also looking into this. It goes up to .10 thickness and comes in rolls.

I went to Archiver's and I am here to report back---LOL! There are two thicknesses of acetate at Archivers. A really nice lady helped me out and answered all my questions. The .005 is for shaker cards, layers, etc. because it is too thin. The .007 thickness is what you need if making your card base out of acetate. They are $5.29 for ten sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 sheets or $5.99 for four sheets of 12x12. Although Archiver's is too pricy for my large project, at least I now know what thickness to order. I am also going to try the report folders and see what is more cost effective.

Just checked on eBay and there's a Buy-It-Now auction for 100 clear report covers (7mil thickness) for just over $27 (including shipping). That's about 27cents a sheet. Might be worth checking out...the seller has a 100% postive feedback with 600+ responses.
