What do you use to get the static of your paper?

I know there is the embossingbuddy, but I�ve heard that many are unhappy with the powder from the embossingbuddy that stays on their paper after embossing. So I was wondering if there are other things you could use to get your paper less static before embossing?

i have and like the embossing buddy. i just wipe the powder off after.

I've heard the used tumble dryer sheet tip too. Also if you handle your paper as little as possible (esp in the area you intend to stamp on) it creates less static to start with.

I have used cornstarch in a sock in a pinch. Works for me and is cheap!

I've used a swiffer. I cut a few in half and keep them in a baggie in my office.

When you say a swiffer, do you mean a microfiber-cloth?

I use a the embossing buddy mostly but sometimes the swiffer. It depends on the paper I am working with.

I use the sheets from the dry Swiffer Sweeper. You can pick up the refills at the grocery store.

I also use them to clean up spilled glitter and embossing powder.

I am glad you asked this as I agree, the embossing buddy is very messy and it leaves a white powder all over my paper that I never seem to be able to get rid of; especially if the paper is darker. I only use clear embossing powder now because it is the only thing that will give me the cleanest end result.

If you heat the paper with your heat gun, the powder should go away.

I'm okay with the embossing buddy also. It's funny, I probably have a can somewhere of what tech illustrators used to use and it was called "Pounce." Same thing. It was a small can with shaker holes in the top and a ring of felt around the outside edge of the top. We'd pat it over our vellum to keep drawing lines from smearing. I have a drafting brush that I use to whisk away the excess from my embossing buddy. I also use that to clean up my work surface all the time.

I have a box of lavender sented dryer sheets from the dollar store that has lasted me forever. It makes my craft room smell really noce, too!

I've tried 'em all - dryer sheets, new and used... swiffer sheets, new and used... nothing works for me like my Embossing Buddy. I wouldn't trade that li'l guy for anything!

Use it gently - instead of pouncing it on your card stock, just rub (pouncing desposits waaaay too much product, comapred to rubbing). And I use a stiff-bristled brush to remove any leftover once I've finished embossing. I've also heard that rubbing your card stock with a microfiber cloth afterward works VERY well, but I've never had the need to try it out. The old toothbrush that I use works perfectly fine, even on the darker card stock.

I have used an anti-static dusting cloth (disposable kind) after having trouble with a bag thing years ago. I hardly ever get a problem now.

Rubbing wax paper on your card before embossing really helps!

I made my own embossing buddy with a knee high nylon and cornstarch. It works great. I use a soft brush to brush away any excess powder.

Static can be a problem but as someone mentioned, not touching the paper too much works because the larger problem is that the EP sticks to the oil from your fingers. I find using the embossing buddy works best but cornstarch should work in theory. I haven't found the powder hard to remove. I usually use the leg of my jeans or my knit PJ pants! Try a clean rag made from an old t-shirt.

I clear emboss just about everything I do. I haven't been able to use the buddy without powder getting everywhere and I hate it on my hands. I use a dry watercolor brush to wipe off the stray embossing powder before I heat it. It's especially good for clearing off small detail areas. The powder falls into my tidy tray and then back into the bottle. Then I wipe the brush on the dry washrag I always keep at hand to clean fingers, etc.

I use talcum powder. I was given a tub of nicely perfumed powder a couple of years ago with a powder puff in it. My cards and I smell lovely. Use it the same way as a buddy.

I use a used dryer sheet and it works pretty well.
