Hi gals! I just got home from church and there were 11 PM's in my box just from this morning. Jenn's was marked URGENT so I read it first and she asked me to postpone judging until at least 2 pm (CST) so that they could try to get everything under control! I am postpoining judging until I get the word from Jenn or Beate that everything is a go . . .
I know you are all eager . . . but we want it to be fair!
We are still having 7 pages with 24 images each sitting in approval. My last approved pages have been sitting here for over 20 minutes now not moving. I have no idea, when we will be done. Sorry!!!
thanks you guys are all so awesome! it's great to have a place where people want to be fair. can't wait to get the results of the judging, but it just wouldn't be the same if so many were left out. I'll be patient.
I don't know if you've already addressed this, but there may be others like me who were trying to upload this morning and gave up when the server crashed. I haven't attempted again to put mine in yet. I'm okay if my cards aren't a part of the judging, since I got to be a hostess (!), but there might be people who weren't as lucky.
Are we going to allow time for the rest of the uploading or cut it off for whatever made it in?

Well since it looks like it will be a while, I need to go get my grocery shopping done.
If we postpone judging till tomorrow, I will not be able to start until 5:30 CST, as I don't get home from work until then.

understand. But maybe have it in hours that most women are home, to be fair.
I can't wait to see what comes up and since this was my first time....I can't wait until Oct's. I really really really hope there will be one.

Maybe we could have VSN one weekend (Friday?) and then everyone has to have their cards uploaded by midnight the following Friday. That way there is a week, so noone stresses. We all know this is on an honor system anyway and so maybe it would give everyone more time to participate?
can we start giving maybe 2-3 days for judging. that way more of us will get to comment and it gives more time for uploading. this is such a fun thing i don't want it to become stressful on anyone!!!!
I second this 100%! All of these are good points!
1. More time for uploading
2. More time to post comments
3. Judging can be done when the gallery isn't so bogged down
4. Don't want to stress anyone out

I really like this idea too! You are right about the honor system. If someone does not follow it, then they will have to live with it if they win. That woudl give us all more time to post comments that are very well deserved and more time to make the best judging decisions!!!

I think that VSN should start on Friday and go through the weekend and then judging should begin Monday pm. I think if we went Friday to Friday that either people wouldn't pay much attention to it or either the hostesses would be overwhelmed with entries and having to choose only 3 winners! Just a thought....

VSN could begin on Wednesday and go through Friday at midnight and then the judges post the winners on Sunday (no upload day) and then that way everyone could post comments on Saturday and Sunday. Just another thought!

Say VSN is Friday night till Midnight -- stampers must have their cards scanned or photographed by noon the following day. (They have datestamps on them). This prevents people from modifying post this time. Then they would have a whole week, to have them uploaded -- say until Friday midnight of the following week, and then judging would occur the Saturday . . .
Can we wait until the gallery is fixed to make any decisions?
Under normal circumstances, getting approvals done is not an issue on Sunday mornings, and we get them done.
with the gallery limping along today, we had problems.

I was sitting reading and thinking the same thing. Let's Vote. There are tons of awesome ideas being thrown around...Put it to a vote and FIRST AND FOREMOST plan the changes to accomodate our FABULOUS Jenn and Beate, Coordinators (Props to our gal, AMANDA), and to all of our judges and hostesses. You all are so awesome and so appreciated! I am sure that whatever is decided will be totally perfect for all that is involved as long as VSN is here to stay!

I second that... Jenn and Beate and helpers whom approve our cards you do an awesome job.
I would not mind if VSN was Friday night. I do work early am on Saturday's is my only problem, but I'm not to bed until after 11 central time anyway. So if it was on Friday's I would only hope starting an hour earlier so we were done by 11:00.
Somebody on another thread suggested splitting it between 2 nights. I think that's a good idea. We could cut it in half, and do it every two weeks. That would cut the uploads in half at any given time, and those who have a conflict on one night could still participate on the other without having to wait a month.

Here Here. This is my first VSN and I definately want to participate in as many as I can. I think it is the best feature to the site and there are some great ones. There's just got to be a way to keep it going (with continually more and more people) and still have no upload Sundays. Even if there is a deadline of posting by 12 Sunday as normal but no pressure or expectation of approval until Monday and judging Monday as well. I have not participated in anything yet that has not been completely addictive.

I hope we can vote on all of these proposals. They are making me nervous. Some of us work and not all of us live in the EST. To have it on a Friday leaves out a bunch of working women who are still at work because it's afternoon, not evening.

I have posted on the other thread, but the decision of the co-founders of VSN (mamakimberly and myself) is that there will be no VSN for the month of October while the gallery undergoes revisions.
In November, the new VSN Manager that Amanda chooses, will have a poll to best choose a time for Nov VSN that will get the most participation and works best for the mods.
Maybe there will be tons of gallery support (ie $$$!) and the most awesomest upgrades, uploads will only take a second or two and it won't even be an issue........here's hoping!

maybe we could give upload some organization such as if your name starts with the letters a-j please load your photo's from this time to that time and so on. this way not everyone will be trying at one time. I know people like to post while we are doing the challenges so maybe we could all agree that we will only post two during that night and do the rest in the morning with some sort or organization.
now that I reread this it doesn't sound like such a hot idea.
