Default What I would love to see.

There are so many talented people here. Some we are not so familiar with and lots that we are all aware of - the "celebrities of stamping", the "brand namers" if you will.

Julie Ebersol, Beate Johns, Silke Ledlow, Jenn Balcer, to name but a few (and of course, all the Dirty Girls.)

Ladies, you know what I wanna see? I wanna see your cards that didn't quite work. The ones you wanted to chuck out. Your mistakes. (Please tell me it happens!)

Care to make at least one "no-namer" feel better?

We've had a "share your favourite card thread", how about a "share your favourite mistake thread".

Time for show and tell!

Any takers?

Well, if it helps, I have many projects that were "misses".

Here's a small portion of some I finished, even tho I knew they fell short of the mark I was aiming for . . .

Joyfully Pink by JulieHRR at Splitcoaststampers

Christmas Mouse by JulieHRR at Splitcoaststampers

Follow The Yellow Brick Road . . . by JulieHRR at Splitcoaststampers

Venetian Canals . . . by JulieHRR at Splitcoaststampers

You Wear It Well! OLC by JulieHRR at Splitcoaststampers

I usually experience design failures every time I sit down to create something. I'm getting better tho, at recognizing when a design ain't gonna fly BEFORE I finish it. I have a nice circular file full of those . . . ;)

Here's my first ever swap card. This was WAY before I even knew about Splitcoast!!

At the time, I was pretty sure that it was the cutest card ever made! lol!

My photography skills were also amazing. Enjoy!

Default One more...

I found another beauty. Both the design and photography are exquisite.

Feel free to case this layout, but don't forget the ribbon suspenders and giant breast on one side. Those are key design elements.

*chuckle* I enjoyed it, Krystie!!! ;)

Sometimes, I think it would be fun--just for myself only--to compare side by side my bests (or, at least, what I think of as my bests) and my worsts.

This is a neat idea... thanks for asking for this from the Splitcoast celebs, Jennifer. I'm a beginner and I have an album of my "Wish Cards"... cards I wish I had done differently LOL! Live and learn... and now we can learn from the stars. Thanks

PS: I have to say, Julie, I love the Wizard of Oz card and so will my 7-year-old daughter!!

Too funny. I would have never have thought that unless you brought it up, but of course now it is very obvious and funny.

ITA with you - I won't delete all my first cards in my gallery - and the first several pages are all the ones I made years ago that I THOUGHT were fabulous but looking back at them now I can really see how far I've come

THis thread is too funny. What's funnier is the fact that I cased the last card that Jenn uploaded back in the day. So it may not have been one of her favorites but it was one of mine!

I noticed that about myself, too, Emily! Especially over the last year or so, I realized I can usually tell before I'm half way done if a design's not gonna fly so I spare myself the agony and chuck it! LOL!

And, OMG, I was saying the same things about my rejects--you crack me!

Plus - now I do the image first then work a background for it - so I can just keep messing with that and then put the image on when I am ready.

Or if I watercolor a one layer card - it's easy to say - YUCK! and dump it and start over!

Oh, man! This thread cracks me up:-)

I have to admit, when I upload a card that I don't really like or look back and say 'what was I thinking' I deleted it! But, after deleting tons from my beginning days, I stopped -so there are a few left.

Nowadays, like Emily, I just scrap it and start over.

Thanks so much for sharing those.

Of course none of those are horrible but I can see how they aren't "quite right".

It's nice to see that you "pros" don't always get it right, it means that there's hope for me yet

Default cards that are mistakes....

I gave my parents a card I considered a mistake and for one of my birthdays they had it framed..it is the one on the far left with the face and butterflies. They loved it. Cyndi

Well, I'm not famous or dirty, but I have some I'm certainly not proud of!! LOL

This one was an interesting concept that didn't quite come to life.

I was downright embarrassed to post this one...no idea why I did!

I loved this set, but this really didn't work out the way I hoped.

Note the crazy doodling on this one.

I was so proud of this and was totally sure I could sell a billion of them.

Here's an early one when I thought stamping off a sentiment all over the main panel was a good idea.

This is quite therapeutic! I have to agree with Julie and Emily, usually now I can either "save" a card or tell when it's just not going to work. LOL
