So I am trying to organize my acrylic stamps. I am having problems getting the stamps off of the clear sheets they came on. Most of the problem stamps are older Inkadinkado clear stamps that I purchased a while back and have yet to use, but one is a brand spanking new EK Success stamp set I just purchased. When I went to peel them off of the storage sheet they came on, they don't want to come off. I've ripped a few beyond repair trying to get these off, and my thumbs are killing me.
So my questions are:
1. Does anyone know a magic solution for getting the rest of these off of their sheet without ruining them or killing my thumbs?
2. Has anyone else had a problem like this? These were brand new in their original packaging, so it's not like I had stored them on something weird that would interact with the acrylic. They were also in a temperature controled room and weren't in sunlight.

I've have this problem, too. I don't know of any magic solutions. I just keep working at a corner or two until I can get it loose and then pull slowly. Once you've pulled them off and replaced them a couple of times, it gets a lot easier.
I don't have a magic solution, but I have a few sets that are a pain in the caboose to get off the backing sheet. So far the worse for me has been a brand new pack that I picked up from Joann's this past weekend from The Paper Company. Maybe I'll just put them away for a bit and see if anyone else has a suggesting for getting these lil suckers unstuck.
It is so funny that you started this thread! I just had this happen to me last night! I only had the little two stamp acrylics from Inkadinkadoo and let me tell you I thought I was gonna rip those two stamps in half trying to get them off that little storage sheet! I have no ideas for you except maybe take your time, pray, and don't buy any more of those stamps! LOL!
I once bought an Inkadinkadoo alphabet, and went to stamp my initials... well the third letter i tried to get off the sheet RIPPED. I returned them to the store, even with one ripped and the package opened, because they were awful quality, and I consider not being able to get them off the packaging a defect.
I did some research on here, and now will only buy the brands that are made out of QUALITY photopolymer, not the junky vinyl (i think) that inkadinkadoo makes.
Slow and steady. I had a terrible set from Autumn Leaves. I just kept working on it under soapy water and finally they came off. Some of mine were damaged, too, and the manufacturer replaced them very quickly.

I don't know if the Inkadinkadoo set I recently purchased (Birthday Cupcake) is like the one you had trouble with, but I've had no trouble getting it off the plastic. The polymer stuff they're made of seems thick to me. Maybe they've learned some things since making that set you had? I hope! The clear sets are getting pricier, and if the quality continues to be an issue I'm afraid clear stamps will end up going by the wayside.
That happened to me too! What i did, is run the stamp under warm to cool water with a touch of hand soap. I think its stuck from humidty? Maybe transport?? Once I did the water and soap tip, it works just fine. just a touch of soap not alot.
The set I had trouble with was a recent Inkadinkadoo set (Halloween). They were hard to get off, but I don't think they were poor quality. They stamped some of the crispest, clearest images I've ever gotten off of clear stamps.
I wonder if they're not letting the stamps cool enough before attaching them to the plastic before packaging? I would think they'd cling harder if they were still warm.

I did want to add that Autumn Leaves said they had a bad batch and they were wonderful about replacing the stamps.
I recall reading somewhere on SCS that you shouldn't store them on acrylic sheets, because they will chemicaly bond over time. If this is true, and from the tales you're all telling it seems plausible, I can't understand why manufacturers sell them on acrylic sheets!
I've taken to storing the few sets I own in plastic boxes that I buy from Flourishes.

My new Papertrey Ink stamps are hard to get off the sheet also. I just VERY carefully peeled the stamp off. I know it's not a quality issue because PTI has good quality stamps. I would love to know though if there was a trick. I was very nervous peeling my stamps off of the sheet.

Happy Heart, The post that you are referring too. Is for Those of us that use Unmounted Rubber stamps. That use the Ez-mount foam.
And it's the Acetate Sheets. That you should NOT use with your unmounted Rubber Stamps.
The chemical reaction between the two compounds. will re-act with your Cling foam.
Therefore Unmounted Stamps will not come off the Acetate Sheets very well.
I love Inkadinkado stamps...I have lots...some of them are a bit difficult to get off the first time...I think I am going to get a smallish putty knife for this. I do love the stamps though and will continue to purchase them.

Bingo! I think the heat does it. I bought a set of fancy pants acrylic stamps when I was in Utah.....then they transported with us through Arizona in 108 degrees. They were STUCK! It just takes a lot of patience to get them off, but I ripped a couple too:(

One thing, you do not want to do is PULL your acrylic stamps from the sheet. Gently lift a corner of your stamp and then use the side of your thumb to kind of roll it (work your thumb between the carrier sheet and the stamp) off the carrier sheet.
I have only used high quality clear stamps (CTMH and PTI) and this works well with them.

This is what I was trying to do with the stamps I had problems with, and it just wasn't working. It's like the stamp is glued down or something. Even being super gentle, they are tearing. The bottom part of the acrylic (the part on the sheet) is actually coming off in places (leaving the image above it intact), and in other spots the whole thing tears in two. I am very frustrated with these. I still have 2 alphabets and a really pretty ribbon set to do, and they just aren't budging.
I have some of the new Inkadinkado clear stamps, and haven't had any problems with them. Some of my other stamps were somewhat difficult to get off their sheets, but nothing like the problem I am having with these ones!

I've had this problem with inkadinkado stamps too.. they suck!! lol Autumn leaves are made of the same crappy vinyl or whatever, but they've never teared for me... i just don't buy them.

I had this problem with Inkadinkado's very first clear stamps, and that turned me off clear stamps for quite some time, lol! Fortunately, I have had good experiences with clear stamps since then, and even the recently released Inkadinkado set I got no long ago (with trepidation!) worked just fine. I think it must be a fluke in the manufacturing process, since it isn't really a consistent problem. Like someone said, maybe putting them on the package insert when still warm, or something minor like that.
I had those problems too. When I finally got them of the sheet I make sure I store them in a well-temeratured space. I�m sure that heat�s something that makes them stick more!
