I've been wondering the same thing too. MY local stamping store just got them in but the staff member who was working that day didn't know anything about them.
I'm a design team member and would be delighted to answer any specific questions you may have about them.
Briefly: They dry on non-porous surfaces, so you can paint on acetate, beads, glass, etc. They're already mixed. You can add water to make them even thinner if you wish. They shimmer like crazy. They're non-toxic.
There are 35 colors and 3 additional limited edition colors for fall.
I have to say in all honesty, when I first played with these paints - I was leary. Afterall, I had Pearl Ex, I had twinks. What could make these so different? Well, when I played with them - oh my- they rock! You know how when you paint on some of your projects the paper pills or buckles? Well, this doesn't happen when you paint with Shimmerz. It is light as a feather and has the same kind of sparkle as a Copic Spica glitter pen. I love too how you can blend colors to add highlights and shadows. You can make it semi translucent with one coat or opaque with two coats. Even if you use one coat,it goes on smooth with no coloring type lines. I haven't tried it on glossy paper yet but Stacey, the woman behind the product, says you can put it on both porous and non-porous items and it dries in a jiffy!
I have to admit - I am on the Design Team but I would still buy this product up in a heart beat!!!
Joan had a link down below to a mini-tutorial that I did using these paints to add dimension to your projects. You should check it out!
Ooo, I lOOOVE Shimmerz! I have all sorts of projects using it on my blog, in fact on my latest post I colored over a prima with Olive Shimmerz and it really sparkles!!! Great stuff, I highly recommend it!
Oh my gosh, I just saw this thread and HAVE to add that Shimmerz is a MUST HAVE!!! I LOVE it and now want ALL of the colors!! LOL!! I painted some Prima's like Amber and they were beautiful! The Shimmerz go on so even and perfect! My friend Lindsey sells them in her store here ~ http://www.jacksonbelleembellishment...int/Categories
She can't seem to keep them in stock and has just ordered TONS more!!! You won't be sorry for buying them!!!
ok everyone, do I NEED these if I have H2Os ? I do use my H2Os often.
I have to say, I have both and I use each paint for different reasons. I use my H20s to watercolor images on watercolor paper. Shimmerz can be used on ANY surface and won't buckle the paper if you happen to use it even on text weight decorative paper! I love the fact that you can use it on non-porous surfaces too! Since H20s are waterbased and Shimmerz are acrylic - they really are two different products.... You buy a few and try them on for size!! ;-)
does anybody know where in canada they sell glimmerz i tried to google and i keep getting xxx sites lol....even when i put stamping in it.
First of all...I tried REALLY HARD not to like these paints...I did NOT need another addiction...but I am Stuck! I LOVE them! I have 5 colors so far...and more on the way!
I just got them yesterday from Allthatscraps.com and I'm kicking myself for not getting more! I tried it and it's so beautiful. Now I have to go back and grab more before they're out of stock!
Whoops - I tutorial I mention before is with H2O's silly me, I get them mixed up sometimes, there's so many different/almost the same things out there. Sorry, but that is a very nice technique too and no need for a fixative cuz it seal itself
I actually tried to do just that with the regular Shimmerz and it did not look good at all- horrible actually. all I own is the regular shimmerz not the thicker Bling version- so I don't know if it works with that version or not. I am wanting to try the Bling version but my LSS only sales the regular version, and all the online stores I buy from do not sell it either.
