WT179 - Crazy for Copics
Copic markers are a fabulous tool and huge trend right now. I love so many things about them...their portability, their blending capabilities, the many surfaces you can use them on and looks you can achieve with them. Whether you color and image, do some airbrushing, alter some ribbon...I can't wait to see your Crazy for Copics ideas.
No Copic markers? We still want you to play along! Here's a few ideas...use a different brand of alcohol based marker such as Prismacolor, do a faux Copic technique using regular dye markers, use a different type of permanent marker such as Sharpies if you're desperate. ;)
As always...please remember to put WT179 in your keywords section and post a link back here so that we can all see your designs. Please create new designs for this challenge as these challenges are all about inspiring you to create!

I don't own a single Copic and somehow I feel like I'm missing something. :-) So glad we can use most any marker...now I can play.

Well, I've got Sharpies so I guess I can come up with something. But I only have a set of ten, so they're not really any good for shading - I got them for shrink plastic...so since I just got some more clear stuff in the post today, that will most likely be my play for today :-)

Well, I guess I'll have to sit this one out. I don't have any copics. I don't think crayola markers would count!!! How would you do a faux copic technique?

I did this card really late last night (actually early this morning!) for the sketch challenge, then I checked today's challenge and it works for this challenge as well. I hope that's ok. I'm just a few hours ahead! I'll probably have another today too (love copic markers!).

Okay, so will somebody tell me what is so great about Copic markers? Why are they better/different than SU! markers? Why should I spend the dough to get them? Does anyone know where the best deal for them is?

Just like most everything else in life, you get what you pay for. When you pay more, you often get better quality, and I have to say that copic markers are so worth the money. You don't have to have every color they make. I just started buying them individually and bought the colors I use more often.
Here's my wall hanging using some of my favorite copic colors:

These markers can color WITHOUT the coloring lines of typical yes, even SU markers. You can blend them also. I don't have many, but love the ones I have.

Here are 2 sites I have found that have good deals (at least on the Copic Sketch markers, which are what I buy).
http://www.mccallisters.com/index.php

And here is a link to Marianne Walker's (Copic guru) blog with step by step tutorials and tons of good info:

In real life this is softly colored and very pretty, not like the harsh lighting the computer gives it. African Floral

A question..............does anyone know, are Tombow markers alcohol ink or dye? I have a whole bunch of them but I got them on e-bay and they were not in their original container, so no description.

I have 4 Copic Markers plus the blender and for the life of me I can't figure them out. I've tried various blending techniques, methods or whatever on different type of paper but to no avail. I've got home cleaning (yuk) to do but hopefully will try later today.

I've always assumed that they are dye, because I always see them equated to Marvys, which I know for sure are dye.
Letraset Pro-Markers are alcohol-based AFAIK.

No Copics, but . . .
I don't have copics, and I certainly can't color like so many of the fabulous artists on SCS, but I used markers to create my card. SU! markers.
Please take a look and let me know what you think.
Here's my card
