Default spider jar

I got mine at Walmart for just under $7, Target had them too for just a bit more. I will try to attach a picture of what I did. It was hard to photograph because of the glare from the jar.

Hope this helps,

Jennie

I think she said Target when she demoed it. But, I've seen them several different places.

Default my 2 cents

I would venture to guess you could probably find it at IKEA since past catalog projects were found there!!!

Target or Walmart - Fabulous! Unfortunately we do not have an IKEA in Louisville. Hopefully we will someday.

Thanks to all!

I am pretty sure the one she used in the sample was a 2-gallon Anchor Hocking glass canister ("Heritage Hill" collection). You can get them at Walmart for about $13, but they are more like $18 at Target. Went and looked at them, and they are TOO HUGE!! The sample Jennie did above was on a 1-gallon canister (also by Anchor Hocking). It is a much more manageable size, but the spider's legs have to be cut short or wrapped under the bottom of the canister. I decided the small one would be better for a couple of reasons, storage being #1. My second reason is that I don't want to have to fill a 2-gallon jar with candy!! (If it is here, I will EAT it!!) I got the 1-gallon jars at Walmart for $6.97 . . .

I was thinking on the smaller jar that you could put the spooky on one side and the spider on the other. That way you wouldn't have to cut off his legs.
I don't have my rubon yet, but I already bought a jar at the bulk barn (in Canada).

Am I missing something here? What was the point of the Spooky Spider DE if only convention demos could get it? It's not like you can show it to a customer, right? That would just be a huge tease, "See this cute spider DE?? Well, guess what? You can't get it!"

Cute jar though!

I have gone back and forth on the spider. First, I *hate* spiders. LOL But this one didn't totally freak me out. The jar at Convention was adorable! BUT, the DE is $12, plus a cookie jar ($7-12). So just the cost of materials for a class would be $20-25. I'd have to add something to put in it, and then pay myself at least a little for running around to buy the jars and having the class. So then it's a $30 candy jar. I just don't think I have more than one customer who would pay that!

I bought the smaller jar, but may go back and get the bigger one and I got the spider in my order today. I am thinking of offering it as one project at a class but will only buy the supplies if people sign up for that class. And I wouldn't provide them with something to fill it either.

Also, IKEA does have lots of jars but the one she showed us was not from IKEA. They don't have any with the glass lid like that.

If you buy the jar just for yourself, I'll send you some candy to put in it!

When I ordered it today it said it was size 2, so maybe there will be a different size in the mini.

Good thinking! That's really smart of you to figure out the entire cost. I never figure that out until later when I'm super frustrated trying to find something...

I don't think I want a $30 glass candy jar that my kids will want to get into. However, this spider could be really cute on the front door...

Once any of the black from the spider design touches that jar it's stuck. Just be really careful when you put it on the jar that you get it where you want. Mine is a little crooked. Oh well

I just did my spooky spider jar and I LOVE it!

I bought my glass jar at Target. Yes, it's an expensive candy jar if that's how you want to look at it, but I think it's a wonderful Halloween decoration and worth every penny! YAY!

I made mine on Friday night and put it out for a small class I had on Saturday morning and I've already had 2 people sign up for it. I am only charing $20 which basically covers the cost of supplies, but I am charging a little more for the other projects in the class to pay for my time. I also figure the spider jars take almost no prep time since I go to walmart at least once a week anyway.

ETA: I am using the smaller jar and putting the spider on the back and the Spooky on the front. Thanks Betsy for that suggestion.

I also bought my jar at Target. It was ridiculously easy to apply (thank heavens as it was my first "installation" of a Decor item). Here's mine though I didn't have any fun ribbon:
