Dry time depends on your local weather...dry or humid, etc. Also a greater surface area will require more dry time than a small spot on a flower. You could place it by a fan, just as long as you don't let it go flying off (weight a non-stamped part down with something) otherwise you might be peeling if off one of your walls.
Just another little tidbit or my two cents, whatever that might be worth. hehe.. I cut my acetate first, stamped my image and then "painted" it. so it was drying while i was cutting the rest of my papers. I also think a thin lay will do the trick and less trying time. hope that helps some.
